Had dinner with friends last weekend. My entree of the tart was delicious, the pastry was literally melt-in-your-mouth. A friend had the Scotch Egg, something I hadn't seen for a long time, and from the fact that he'd had previously, assume that he enjoyed. My sirloin steak was a little over-cooked for my interpretation of medium/rare but the diners who had the fish said it was delicious.

I would have loved to have stayed for the dessert but will have to save for next time. Regarding comments about service, they must have taken to heart, as our waiter was effusively jovial almost to the point of irritating, obviously really trying to make sure we were not ignored or missing out on service!

Cafe Lyon is a real treasure, it would be a great find a bistro of this quality in the city but to have a so close to home on the upper north shore is fantastic!

The service was friendly and enthusiastic and the food was amazing. Must try dish of the night “pear tart tartin” Perfection. We can't wait to go back.

The food was wonderful at this restaurant, including the lovely mango souffle. Unfortunately, it did not have the service to match. It was only half full and the waiters just could not cope. 10 minutes before we were asked for our drinks order, and another 20 minutes before our food order was taken. The food came quickly though, so at least the kitchen is well-runned. Wasn't at all interested in offering us coffee after our meals. Dinner menu was limited, so probably won't return until they put out a new menu.

A lovely meal in a good restaurant. Tables seemed a little too close for an intimate evening but a good place to meet friends. Waiters were inexperienced but polite and enthusiastic.

My only complaint was the head waitress who was snobby, rude and clearly gave no direction the waiters. She ignore us completely all night, at one point she walked by and clearly noticed we had been served our side dishes but had no meals but kept walking. Later she leant on our table while chatting with the couple next to us for an extended time. I would go back to this restaurant, maybe on her night off.

A gem of a restaurant. Even though the menu is limited it does cover a wide range to suit any tasted. Very good value when you consider the quality and service. Have been on several occasions and the standard has remained consistent.

My wife and I just had a wonderful meal. Great food, great company, great wine. Can't be happier than that. A great local with a great buzz about it.

My family and I had the yummiest meal at Cafe Lyon recently! What a gem of a neighborhood bistro in Lindfield. The food is so tasty, up there with fine dining quality, but in a casual atmosphere and super friendly service from the waiter. Tried a mix of entrees, the cured salmon was the best. Fresh salmon with the crunchy texture of prawns was great. The ocean trout was the favorite of the main and the tasty bernaise offered a decadent French touch.

Dessert was to die for! Flourless chocolate cake was so moreish and we can see why everyone raves about the tarte! Yum. Wine Service was good also. Highly recommended for the food. Suggest downstairs has a nicer feel than upstairs.

The ambience was friendly and welcoming. The appetizer, cured salmon and prawns, was average. The thin slices of salmon were topped with deep fried prawns, which did not complement esch other. The mains was barramundi with prawn bisque. This was too too salty, with the salt overpowering the taste of the fish. My husband had the lamb, which was beautiful, tender, and with a very tasty wine sauce. All in all I was disappointed with my choice, but my husband enjoyed his.

Very enjoyable. Scotch egg was gorgeous. Loved the trout! Green beans with almonds were delicious. Overall the food was great! Service was only ok. Wines & food reasonably priced. One waiter was lovely, the other one was in a bad mood. Telephone is inconveniently located. Loud female owners ? voice ruined the ambience when she was speaking to customers taking bookings over the phone. I could hear her clearly across the other side of the room. I will be back however because the food was great. Probably best food on the north shore.
