Went to the one on Oxford street and just tried a few tapas, the mushrooms, prawns and meatballs were all nice but the churros with the chocolate and ice cream was a nice way to end the night.

Nom nom nom the Thick Spanish hot chocolate is divine and very good churros, very authentic. Don't ask to put soy milk in the Spanish Hot chocolate because it will not be a Spanish hot chocolate and the barista will tell you so haha. Had fun speaking Spanish to him and another waiter sang us a song as we left sweet! I love the decor of the place and the paintings are beautiful, such a cut cafe and they have Horchata too a drink I used to have in Mexico Que chido!

Situated on the outskirts of Kings Cross on a sloping pathway this small coffee shop is open 24 hours all year round and has been in business since 1972. There's quite a few specialist coffee beans to choose from and the pokey seating arrangement inside will keep you warm from the winter chills outside. The coffee seemed ok but, unfortunately, the churros (spanish donut) is disappointing and quite dry due to not being freshly cooked but you can't ask much for only $2 I guess. For the best freshly cooked churros I've found so far in Sydney head to Chocolateria San Churro.

I have no complaints. Went in there on a Sunday night for coffee and cake and they both were nice. Good service. Only issue is there is no parking around the area.

This used to be a good place, I used to love the eclectic crowd it would attract, the mismatched furniture and the wonderfully bad paintings. I am not sure what other reviewers see in this place but it has certainly fallen from grace.

Once a late night oasis in a desert of good late night cafes, this place has descended into a dark abyss, the coffee is atrocious and everything else is just disgusting, including the smarmy service. We ordered a churros that was so hard you could kill a cat with it!

Once you would find it hard pressed to get a table, last week there was just one other person in the place. Never again. What a shame.

As far as the coffee is concerned its very good and has been that way for a long time and I would recommend Hernandez to all coffee lovers. The other aspects of Hernandez are certainly not on the same level as the coffee especially the customer service and presenation. Definitely one of the top 5 Sydney caffes as far as coffee is concerned.

We had an excellent meal. The service was exceptional. Would go back for sure. Maybe next time we visit from Canada.

The coffee at Cafe Hernandez is great - no doubt about that! The service at Cafe Hernandez is atrocious. The staff (for the most part) are rude and have a sour attitude.

The last time I visited, was during the day, and there was no-one there at this particular time. The woman serving me, poured my take-away coffee and then just stared at me blankly. When I politely asked for a sugar and a lid for the cup, she quite rudely said that "we don't do that here - you have to do it yourself" ??? And they weren't even busy!? It seems they just don't understand the concept of service.

Everything / anything that you ask for here seems to be a burden for the staff at Cafe Hernandez. Being a local, I used to overlook all of this cause the coffee is so good. But recently I made a decision - no more! There are too many other good coffee shops with friendly staff. I'm not going back!

Seriously great coffee! The rest is very average but who cares - it's by far the best coffee in Sydney.

I went for a quiet coffee with my Sunday paper today, only to be disturbed by this 40-something waiter. He was talking non-stop to this poor fella (a customer) with annoyingly loud and nasally voice. Meanwhile, he managed to leave other customers (myself included) waiting, sending the "how dare you make me take your order, let alone bring you coffee?" signals. I must have done something very wrong, as he gave me 10-dollar change all in coins.

I've loved this cafe for its charming ambience and the opening hours, but noticed that the experience has been misses rather than hits lately.
