For some reason I always end up here for Sunday morning breakfast, and every time I say the same thing: never again! I cannot speak for the lunch/dinner menu (as I would never spend more than $15 at this cafe) but the breakfast menu lacks any variety or imagination, especially for vegetarians.

Last Sunday I ordered 'grilled mushrooms' with my meal and they were literally not cooked. Another time I had the oiliest grilled spinach I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing. The worst part is that since the tables slant a little, you begin to notice a pool of oil collecting on one side of the plate, which is rather unappetising.

Basically Cafe Florence is fine for a coffee and a cigarette, but not for spending money on a meal.

Great for a nice dinner. Not expensive and plenty of choice from pasta to modern Australian. We've been a few times and everything we've tried has been yummy. Quick service and they have high chairs for bubs.

Absolutely shocking service and waiting times. When I went with my mother, even though we were the only two in the shop, we had to wait one hour for spaghetti and fish and chips which were average - really? Won't be returning.

Today my boyfriend and I decided to spend our public holiday out at lunch at Cafe Florence. When we first arrived we were greeted by many smokers sitting outside. We then order our drinks and mains which took over and hour to come out, which made me far from impressed.

My boyfriend ordered the T Bone steak which he thought was 'average'and I ordered the Chicken keiv which I found unedible, the only thing I could eat was the chips. After leaving with a $70 bill and little satifaction I can certainly say I will never be going back there again.

Food: Wide Selection of Breakfast, Sandwiches, Melts, Pasta and even Mains, this place is a Cafe Restaurant. We enjoyed a decent selection of Aussie Breakfast, Bacon and Egg Sandwich, Salami and Chicken Avocado Melts and a Pesto Creamy Pasta, only feedback is the Pasta was overcooked, and deducted points for feeling upset in the stomach afterwards!

Ambience: outside the shopping centre and near the water clock, a bit tight on space and the seats were mundane.

Service: plenty of waiters for such a small place, they suffled 2 tables to accommodate 6 of us and were quick to take the order and bring out the food.

Value: Plenty of bites around $10, decent size portions especially the breakfast.

This place is so hit and miss. One time great and the over times terrible. I've given up. It is so hard to find a good place in Sydney to eat.

Not really able to comment on the food, as our booking was lost (despite checking the booking twice by phone). We stood around for more than 10 minutes while they promised to make room but finally they admitted it would be a 30 minute wait. Many unreserved tables were filled up with customers while we continued to wait. Eventually we left and found a much better restaurant in the area. I do not recommend this as a place to book a table at.

I can't understand how this cafe has got the reviews it has. I was there last week. Let's take the 9 year old table waitress/cleaner for a start who, at the age of 9, you might expect to be wiping food scraps from tables onto chairs and floors but not in a cafe or restaurant! I watched new diners wipe chairs down and then stomp all over someone else's old fries and lettuce scraps as they placed their feet down on the floor underneath them.

Let's take the coffee that arrived both weak And burnt! How do you achieve such a result?! My oversized salad arrived with ungroomed smoked salmon (still had the black bits at the ends), the lettuce dry and unimaginative, the onion served with a layer of skin on it, the olives tasted like they were out of date, and the cucumber was thick and Warm! Warm!? And to make matters worse, the plate was so full you could hardly pick through to the bits that were worth eating without losing portions onto the table.

The other plate to be "enjoyed" was the chicken schnitzel which could only in fairness be called a "schnitzel" because there just wasn't much chicken in it to be labelled so. Perhaps, "Schnitzel with flakes of chicken" would better describe the dish. No one asked how our meals were at the end, simply took our money and watched us leave (no doubt with a scarl on their faces because no tip was offered). I'm convinced the only reason they had customers that day was because the lovely cafe a few doors up was closed for renovations.

I went to this cafe for my morning coffee takeaway. The guy at the counter wouldn't accept my loyalty card as I had ordered a large hot chocolate instead of my usual standard coffee. The hot chocolate was slightly more expensive. As a regular customer I felt this was rude and inappropriate. Needless to say I won't be getting my coffee from this place anytime soon.
