Overview of Cafe DOV

cafe DOV has for more than a decade, been one of Sydney's favourite cafes. Originally in Darlinghurst, DOV is now located in Sydney's bustling Potts Point, on leafy Victoria Street. Still a locals' favourite, DOV was voted a finalist in the category of Best Breakfast in the 2010 Savour Australia NSW Awards for Excellence.

cafe DOV is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are fully licenced, with a modern and well priced wine list. We are also available for private functions, and can design and cater events tailored for your own location.

Great breakfast. High quality ingredients. Bacon ang eggs cooked perfectly.
Coffee great. Friendly, attentive nice staff. They like our poodle also which is a plus. Highly recommended.

Went to Cafe DOV last Saturday for dinner. Was surprised by the excellent quality of the food and generous serving size. Buzzy atmosphere, subdued lighting. Staff are helpful and welcoming.

People say the funniest things on here! I've been coming to this cafe for years, and ever since the current owners took over early in 2011, I've been coming more and more often.

There are always a couple of salads on the menu, plus specials on the blackboard. I've never had trouble finding something to order, more that there is almost too much to choose from. The staff are always friendly, the food always tasty, and for Potts Point, the value for money is great. "more seating squeezed in the courtyard, never a good sign"? The garden is a wonderful addition to the cafe and the neighbourhood, and I would suggest that if a cafe needs more seats, it's an excellent sign that they are doing something right.

Went to DOV recently, and while the service was good I thought the whole experience was nothing special. They do great coffee, no doubt about that. But the menu didn't excite, and I just ended up having the chicken sandwich. It wasn't bad, but I guess its difficult to make a chicken sandwich exciting, so I don't pretend that I expected that.

I was impressed that one of the staff (manager? owner?) came out and asked how I enjoyed the sandwich. He was a friendly guy. But when I was looking for a nice big healthy salad, the next best thing I found was the chicken sandwich and I just basically settled for that.

Not a bad cafe, perhaps, the brekky menu is better.

I have been going to DOV since it opened in Potts Point and it has been very rare that I have need to complain. They are also very happy to accept feedback on their menu. The food has always been of top shelf quality, though sometimes the prices do seem a little high on some items.

Above although is the staff, who are relaxed, happy to share a joke and be themselves. No stark artificially pleasant wait staff. Staff with attitude...love it.

The changing menu is a big plus for me and the addition of a herb garden has been a great idea. I will certainly continue to frequent cafe DOV and would recommend it to anyone.

Nice enjoyable food but nothing special and a bit over priced. Went on a saturday night and it was 3/4 empty which isn't a good sign. The waiter was ott camp, a tad over familiar. Overall was ok but not sure if Id return.

Have only been here for breakfast. Nothing really negative to say. Just noticed the prices going north fast over the years (since owner change in 2008?) and more seating squeezed in the court yard. Not a good sign.

I love the muffins! All different types and all good. it's also really nice to sit out and look at the passing wolrs in either summer or winter. In summer the trees protect from the sun, and in winter the leaves fall and let the rays shine through.

Tim the owner is always ready with a good wine tip and they have toys as well for the little people to enjoy in the back room. Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Easy going place.

It's a great cafe by day but at night it goes into a lovely vibe restaurant mode and every time I've been (we're talking over an 8-year period) the food has never disappointed. Hope it's around for a long time to come!

I have visited DOV quite a few times for breakfast and lunch and I keep returning because the menu changes regularly based on the season and the food is consistently very good. The specials on the board are unusual yet delicious so let yourselves be tempted! I love all the brioche based brunch dishes and I highly recommend you try these.

The service is a bit inconsistent but the food comes out quickly and there is generally no need to queue for a table unlike at other cafes in the area. Great value for money.
