We were walking past this place one day and the person I was with said, "Here, there's only ever, like, 2 pastries in the window, but they're the best 2 pastries you'll ever eat." Sums it up. All their baked stuff is fresh and puts other "patisseries" in the area to shame but like the previous reviewer said, it probably wouldn't hurt if there was more of it.
Based on a personal recommendation and the reviews off this site, I ventured off to this "Cafe" yesterday afternoon around 1.30 pm. Whilst the shop was still "open" there was nothing, and I mean nothing available to eat. The shelves were bone empty.
Other people were walking into the shop as well obviously wanting to eat. If this place is so popular why doesn't the owner bake more food? There was obviously a demand for the food still at this hour.
I only wish other reviewers on this site had advised that there is nothing available basically after 12 pm from what I can see. Don't bother going after this time and I have no idea why the shop is still open when there literally is nothing to buy.
It is such an unassuming little place, with a window featuring just a few small trays of pastries, who would have thought what delights lay within. I could eat these Empanadas every day! I often join the queue of hopefuls around midday on a Saturday waiting for the first batch to come out. I usually end up with a burned tongue, I simply can't wait long enough for it to cool. The sweet treats are also delicious.
The best Empanadas in Sydney! You must try the Custard and Poppy Seed Danish too. Grab some lunch and head down the road to the waterside where you can have your delicacies and watch the kids play in the park!
The empanadas are addictive. They are cooked in small batches, as are all of their delicious pastries. The Christmas (only) mince pies are almost as good as the empanadas. Honest food prepared by people who really know what they are doing.
Unbelievably tasty Argentinian baked empanadas. People come from all over the city to get them (before they are sold out every day). Lovely flaky pastry and filled with spiced minced chilli beef and hard-boiled egg and a green olive. Good coffee too.
