Finally! A nice chinese food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg in the North Shore! Hurruh! I'm terribly excited. This is great chinese food. Its always fresh, its always tasty and I'll keep coming back for as long as it is! I'm so glad I found this, I was planning on going to Lee's Fortuna but I've never been able to save enough money!! hahaha, this place is great. Service mostly friendly, although we've been rudely asked to swap tables, they did give us extra peanuts though.
I'd give this all 10's except perfect places exist but are very rare. Like a previous reviewer I am extremely hesitant to review this place as it'll lead to it being too popular and harder to get into and/or the quality will suffer as they loose control. Anyway, if you want top quality 'Australianised' Chinese food forget Peacock Gardens... this place blows it out of the water along with everyone else in the local area and probably most of Sydney. They even have every day and night yum char. The dishes are made fresh on the spot to order with no requirement to buy a minimum number of dishes, so it's goodbye to long queues and competition for seats on Sunday mornings.
We had the steamed prawn gow gees as starters ($6 for 4) which were delectable. Next was a $16.40 grandma bean curd with pork mince main (a bit spicy but unsurpassed) and a $19.90 main of delicious sizzling steak with cashews and Chinese veggie. The small fried rice was huge, fresh as could be and only about $6. The staff were friendly and attentive and I really liked the toasted peanuts complimentary starter. Well done C'est, you guys are BRILLIANT! P.S. no corkage charged either...how good is that?!
No trolley service for Yum Cha, so the food comes out really fresh. Everything we had was delicious. Good selections to chose from on the menu like the red bean pancakes!
This place is quite a nice little spot. It gets rather busy so it's best to come early or book as you don't want to be put upstairs. The food here is great! Definitely recommend the 'three cup chicken' and Singapore noodles. The staff were very friendly and quite attentative once you got their attention. I would definitely recommend here...will certainly be going back.
I'm not sure I want to write this review. I don't want to find this place booked out next time I go. What a great find! Excellent, efficient, non-intrusive service, high quality food, served one dish at a time, and tremendous value. It's always great to eat on the street, and in the warmth of the heaters, this was a real unexpected bonus. I really can't see any point in going for family style chinese anywhere else.
Good place for some quick, cheap and great tasting Chinese in the area. Attentive, eager to please staff is also a pleasant change from most places that give out the 'we don’t care' vibes these days.
This is great cheap Chinese in a pleasant restaurant right on Willoughby Road. Myself and 3 friends ate here for $20 each and it was an absolute feast! They are byo and licensed, and service is always quick and friendly. We just stumbled upon it one day and whoever I take there become regulars themselves!! Definitely worth a visit!
