I've never eaten a full meal here but the desserts and dip platter they do are really good. I enjoy stopping in for a drink if I'm shopping along King Street. It's a nice place to sit and the service is friendly and relaxed. I also had the nicest milkshake I've ever drunk in there yesterday!
The food is always good, the cheesecake and strawberry tart are to die for! The staff are great and the cafe has a lovely warm feel to it, perfect. Except I find it to be quite pricey, and I rarely go there just for dessert anymore (but I do give in to temptation every now and then) because 2 coffees and 2 cakes came to nearly $30 which is just too much, for that money I can get a meal but, despite that I keep on coming back. Its one of the 'better' cafes in newtown, and it deserves its praise!
Definitely my favourite place for breakfast/brunch on the weekend. Just love the avocado, cherry toms and mushrooms with turkish followed by the berry flan and caramalised fig gelato. The long pink couch is the best place to lounge around and take in the atmosphere with good friends. Coffee is great too. Just wish the noise of the blender could be quietened. The area at the back is good too on a sunny day if you want to smoke.
I have been to this place twice, and loved it both times. The first time with a group of 7 for drinks, and the second time there were 4 of us having sweets, which were very nice. I feel this place encapsulates the "true" Newtown, with its ambient atmosphere, and genuinely hospitable staff who really seem to have an interest in the journey that is life. Left the place both times with thoughts of Constantine Cavafy's "Ithaki"...
Certainly one of Newtown's better cafes, although depressingly far away Eastern Avenue! The main room is a little sparse, but still a fairly nice atmosphere. The service was swift and friendly, and the food was very nice and good value. With perfect company, this certainly was a great lunch.
Returned twice since our first visit, not so good on both occasions. Food was dismal both times, steak was leathery and dry and salad was limp. Food served up with little care for presentation. Not sure what has happened but its not good. Service was still great. Gelato is still excellent, skip the meals.
What a surprise! We have walked past this place sooo many times and never been in, decided to give it a go for a late dinner. Service was great, it actually feels like the staff enjoys their jobs! The space is really airy and comfy and there is plenty of room between tables. There is a huge table for groups and a fab lounge area up the back.
Food is fantastic value, the flavours are clean and it is beautifully presented. Desserts look divine, we were well behaved and shared gelato, OMG, the fig and the vanilla bean are a must. Great place to just chill out. Coffee was A+
