Much like others who have commented, we found the service ridiculous. My mother's birthday lunch turned into everyone but her getting their lunch within an hour. She got someone else's order after an hour and five, and then finally her own after an hour and a half. No apology or remorse, no discounts, just a "won't you take a brochure for our salsa night next week?" on paying.
Mother's Day lunch turned into a fiasco as we constantly had to chase staff and request the next course. Once again table number changes saw confused staff wandering out to us on the balcony and then disappearing. 1 hour after we'd finished entrees, I went looking for mains which arrived within minutes but cold. 1 hour later I chased our desserts which arrived about 15 minutes later complete with melted ice-cream. The service was so ridiculous, we ended up in hysterics, which made for a pleasant afternoon. I have on the other hand had some lovely breakfasts at this cafe.
Rainforest setting is relaxing and you feel like you are in tropical garden.
I come from North Queensland and the restaurant reminds me of my tropical home town. I find the venue relaxing, peaceful, excellent for familes and a friendly service provided by the owners and staff. I had a chicken and advocado open sandwich for lunch and it was flavoursome, yum! Apparently the Garden of Eden at Dural is under new management. Prices are comparable to other local restaurants.
I heard about this place, trees and some water feature and it sounds nicer than it was. Very ordinary service, hard not to notice all the waitress's walking around confused with the table numbers. Food was cold, rare meat for a medium order. The kitchen must be a nightmare.
After the high expecations set by the brochures, the reality was quite a shock. I honestly thought we were in the wrong place. Put simply, the place is a dump. The heshin sack ceiling was the highlight of the decor, as well as the mosquistoes in the toilets.
The service was non-existent. We were given dirty cutlery, no napkins and no drink coasters (so the table got rather sticky). The food was overpriced and very bland (when it eventually arrived). The ambience....well, there was none. The grounds were a mess, the outside of the building looked horrible, and the inside was no better.
We were actually checking out this place as a potential wedding reception venue, as this is what they claim is their business, but after seeing the place and eating there I would strongly suggest that you give this place a wide berth.
The food was fine. The ambience however, is a different story. The largest part of the cafe is set in a 'tacky recreated rainforest, full of fake palms, gravel path (real rocks!) and pond with fish. My kids thought it was Christmas. Outside there is a small animal display with some deer and ducks. City kids would be impressed by this.
