A pre war Golf Club later WW2 Military Mess and then National Park living quarters located in bushland converted to a restaurant with magnificent views over the harbour. Opposite HMAS Penguin Naval Hospital. Eating is on the verandah which is spacious and has a boutique gift shop in the same premises.

I made a booking for 3.30pm on a Sunday afternoon for high tea for my baby shower. We all arrived on time but our table wasn't ready until 4pm at which time they started setting it. When I questioned the waiter his response was "Well I can't ask people to just leave" this was despite making a booking for 3.30!
Overall very disappointed with high tea. Overpriced and extremely poor service. Would not recommend. When we were eventually seated our coffees and teas didn't come out until after we had finished eating.

Describing the service we received as the greatest ever would be a dramatic understatement.
From the moment our waitress (Ella) came to our table my husband and I truly understood what it means to have a waiter "take care of you". My husband has serious dietary requirements, and our waitress was not only able to confidently and accurately describe the food (a huge relief to us when dining out) but was also able to recommend and describe matching wines with an expertise belying her obvious young age.
Although it was very busy we were constantly attended to, in a courteous and professional manner (so often missing in the Sydney dining scene) without feeling hurried or interrupted. Every little detail was taken care of and it added so much our experience.
All in all, it was an absolutely spectacular and I can't wait to go back again!

I went to Burnt Orange on the weekend and was so looking forward to it but after waiting half an hour for a table when I had already booked a week earlier I was very disappointed. It was a special bday lunch for my mother and I told them it was her birthday but no one said happy birthday or acknowledged it.
There was also nothing done about the fact we had to wait. If I am paying more than $20 for a main, I expect something for waiting 30 min for a table, it probably would have only been 20 but the waiter forgot about us so when I went up to him for the third time he was like whoops sorry I forgot about you. I said something to our waitress just before the bill came telling her we had been waiting and that it would be great if that could be relfected in the bill but instead she came to the table and tried to give me reasons in front on my mum. It was very embarrasing.
Food was ok, yes overpriced. It seems you pay for the view, however, after reading other reviews it seems I am not alone in the service letting the place down.

Food is ok, prices are ok, location is beautiful, but the service has been so awful (on weekend breakfast/brunches) the 5+ times I have been. The wait staff ignored us for the first 20 minutes until I finally got the attention of someone. They did not bring us any water after numerous request. They got orders incorrect. We had to basically beg for the bill. The owners/managers should seriously consider a rehire as it is such a beautiful location that is going to waste.

A fabulous location, beautiful food (although on a small number of occasions too much salt has been thrown into salads), very adequate portions (unless you're really prefer super-size eating - I don't!). Service generally attentive. Yes, it's loud - not sure what they can do about that. The owners music taste is spot on!! But overall, a fabulous place to hang out, and I hope it goes from strength to strength.

Such a hit and miss place. It offers such potential if only they could solve the problem with the noise. Women should be limited to groups of 2 or 3. Yes that is unfair I admit, but bejesus the place has a louder racket than a rock concert. And, it is primarily women in groups over 40 celebrating one thing or another.
The breakfast is great. Unfortunately, I will never return again because of the noise. Brunch is not a time to be shouting across a table for two and struggling to be heard.
The lunches are only moderately better for noise levels but the food is let down by price and portion size. The waiters are hard to pin down as they flit around and they do seem a little understaffed and disorganised.
I had such high hopes for the place but I think this is one venue that should be left to the Mosman Mothers clubs. Or else take earplugs.

I had breakfast here on a gorgeous Sydney morning. The food was nice if not wow (not that I expect wow for breakfast) and the portions were fine. The coffee was good.
This a beautiful setting, outside on a wide verandah of an old house, with parkland and harbour views. This is the reason to come here.
But my guess is the prices are about 20% higher than what I usually pay for breakfast and add $4 an hour parking, it's not going to be a value breakfast option.
They were understaffed for such a big place, so service was pretty hard to get.
Take your visitors to Sydney and enjoy the fabulous views.

Yes the view and character building with charming verandah are unique and beautiful but this alone does not make the restaurant worth a return visit. My fish main was so small I had to take the tiniest bites so it wasn't finished in just minutes and at $28 overpriced. The other main of wagyu beef was bigger but the 84 year old grandmother eating it was still very hungry.
The desserts were disappointing as well, if you order pannacotta with gingerbread and honey-poached pear you would expect more than one small quarter of pear. Coffee was good but we left feeling we had paid far too much and still hungry. We will not return and would not recommend this very noisy restaurant.

We must have been at the other Burnt Orange to those below. With a party of 18 we had a wonderful afternoon. It was a cool Sydney day yet we were pleasantly warm on the verandah. Everyone's meals were excellent. Small portions? Maybe those reviewers were Americans. There was plenty to eat! And our waitress (Ella), was one of the most cheerful (without being over the top) and diligent waitresses I have come across.
We never had to wait for anything, and when We made Her wait, she was polite and friendly. This was a 50th birthday celebration and we left having enjoyed a very special occasion.

Beautiful location, and on our visit, the service was great. I liked the chicken pie, and the desserts were delicious. A good experience, and go when the weather is good to enjoy the verandah.
