Brought my beautiful girlfriend to this chance by accident and it was great....feels like your back in Italy. The food is very rich and typical of Italian, the service was great, very friendly people.

I love italian food but this was a HUGE disaster. The seafood platter tasted awful, the crab being mushy and each and EVERY single mussel closed. The entire establishment STUNK so badly of sewerage, that at one stage our entire party was holding their noses, pasta was ordinary, the rice balls were cold and raw inside, veal was ok but a bit chewy. Would not go again.

Foods ok, but the seafood platter looks like it's been frozen for 2 months then thawed because there was hardly any taste but batter. They could do with more quantity servings for pasta and be bit more generous about it and I seem to go there with a group of people every year and realised this hasn't changed.

Had an enjoyable meal. The pastas are very well presented, very generous sized servings. Service was excellent and we were very well looked after.

If you are looking for a flashy restaurant don't come here. But, if you are looking for a value for money, traditional Italian, warm service and tasty food then this is the place for you. We went for a Birthday Party (9 of us - including 2 children) and the bill was $250!!! Fantastic value for money. The food is quite oily, so don't come here if you are dieting. Having said that is was very flavoursome and heaps of it.

I had the Carbonara which was very nice, however, it was a little too rich for me. My husband and the diavola penne, which was just right, not too much chilli.The garden salad was very fresh, and the bruschetta authentic. The veal dishes looked to be a very decent size and all came with vegetables. My relatives seem to really enjoy the veal dishes.

The restaurant is decorated in red and checked tablecloths, italian memorabilia on the walls and a TV!. The hosts very very friendly and responsive to our tables needs. They even played happy birthday for the birthday girl, a really nice extra touch! The ambience is friendly and homelike. Overall, this place is cheap and cheerful, homely food and attentive, unpretentious service.

Went here on a Tuesday night, quiet and intimate. Nice food, the calamari was some of the best I have had, just served plainly on a lettuce base, tender and tasty! My partner had the gnocchi, which was served with a spicy tomato and pea sauce, it was delicious. The service was friendly and really fast (maybe because it was a quiet night?) It felt like dining at a warm family home, highly recommended.

Went there for the lunch special. Not a bad deal for $10. But limited variety. No chicken dishes in that sp menu. Overall staff was fine. Nice ambience. Would recommend the lunch sp if you are not a chicken/vege fan.

I adore Buon Gusto & after 7 years of fabulous food, service & laughs.. I will continue to return. We have spent many a special family occasion here - and the "Happy Birthday" song is a hoot. Alfredo, his lovely wife, their kids and all the other staff really ensure you enjoy yourself & eat heartily. Nothing is too much trouble. As for the previous comment about bad (free) olives served upon arrival...!!! What a load of overstating that is, you actually get served lovely antipasto & cheese balls for free, the olives are partially dried - a Italian delicacy not often seen in Oz. They offer a good variety of daily specials as well as a good varied menu full of provincial Italian fare. Desserts are decadent especially when finished with an espresso & free tipple.

I live down the road and love this place. The best value Italian I have ever had! When you eat there it feels like you are at your nonna's house. Go there, you will love it. Take away is cheap and easy. Quality and a great price. Favvy

Great old-school Italian restaurant anyone would want in their neighbourhood.

We loved the loud, friendly service, as opposed to obsequious toadies or bored "artists" in other places in the Newtown area.

The menu is full of typcial Italian fare and there are plenty of specials to ensure you never get bored. Good range of seafood and great coffee to end.

Agree that their olives served for free at the beginning of the meal are pretty dull, though.
