We've had alot of Chinese and this place takes the cake. Great service great prices and the peking duck is exquisite. Although they could do with a little renovating though you do indeed get what you pay for. It's a fun local hangout not a place for a first date unless they appreciate the culture of traditional Chinese.

After driving past and commenting on the 'average' exterior of this restaurant on numerous occasions, we went for yum-cha today and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was packed and after finishing our meals we understood why.

Good range of dishes that were frequently offered past our table. Our bill was approx $42 (including a beer) for two people which I think represents good value for yum-cha. I didn't notice any of the 'extreme' yum-cha items however I'm not an aficionado of chickens feet and was content to stick to dumplings and squid etc. We will definitely return in the knowledge that we don't have to travel to Chatswood for decent Yum-Cha anymore.

Had yum cha there on the weekend. Food was bland, too oily and absolutely no taste registered on my taste buds. Staff was unfriendly, service very slow (has to wait 20 mins), got up myself and walked to the kitchen for tea refill and it was not even crowded. Overall bad experience.

Don't let the outside appearance or the decor put you off this brilliant restaurant. Very friendly staff always make us feel welcome. We have been here many times now, mostly on weekends for lunch. The Yum Cha is great and the live seafood is exceptional. We get mud crab and they are always very meaty and well prepared. They bring the seafood to you to inspect and approve, it is as fresh as you can get. Pricing is also very reasonable.

Definitely go for the Peking duck. Carved up in front of the table and served first as crispy duck skin pancakes and then as a duck san chow bow. YUM YUM! Didn't try the seafood but you can order the barramundi straight out of the tank. As they were taking the fish out, it spayed water all over the place! Quite humorous. Friendly staff. Karaoke on weekends. Will return soon to try the yum-cha which everybody has been raving about.

This is a great restaurant for the weekend yum cha with the family. It's cheap and it's good. They serve all the usual yum cha favourites from dim sims to tempura oysters, whatever your taste is. I recommend this place to anyone looking for good Chinese food at a cheap affordable price.

Excellent Yum Cha during the day. This was the first time I have been at night since the days of Golden Singapura. Food was great, very fresh and tasty. Price was a pleasant surprise, very good value for money.

At last, a decent yum cha restaurant on the northern beaches. Much improved from the old days as Singapura. Dragged my sister along who wasn't keen as she had been before back in the Singapura days but she was quite surprised and has changed her mind about yum cha. Loved it. Could still do with a few more dishes though.

I havn't been to Brookvale Chinese for quite a long time, the last time I went it was still golden Singapura! The quality of the food there has changed dramatically (for the better) and the service has improve greatly too! Leanne, one of the owners is really friendly, looks after her customers well. Karaoke that night was great and I had a great time!
