Living in the area I have tried this place several times over the years to re-assess it as it always seems to win various awards but each time I am left wondering what the appeal is. It is very dark and cramped. The food is over-priced and there is not much choice. I think because Drummoyne has few equivalent cafes in the area it is frequented because there are not many alternatives. Even the sourdough bakery a couple of doors down has cheaper and better bread I find.

Went here on a busy saturday morning, and most cafes are packed but the customers were all lined up, in a nice orderly fashion, which was actually very unique. Anyways. Staff are nice, plenty of food options to choose from, if we weren't in such a hurry we would have gotten a full breakfast. Our coffees were nice, and for 2 coffees, 1 quiche, a scone and croissant it was about $19.
Will come again. The locals love it.

Great service, however, my coffee left much to be desired. I had the breakfast and my eggs looked and tasted like they were out of a packet. The only saving grace was a lovely tart my partner had.

After having lurked around this site for sometime and used the reviews a number of times to select a restaurant, I decided to jump in. Recently moved into the area and visited this bakery on a wet weekday lunchtime with my partner and my Mum. Mum and I had soup, brocolli and blue cheese which was absolutely divine. My partner had a chorizo frittata which he enjoyed. The coffees afterwards were great.

On the downside, soup was reasonably priced at $7 but the frittata was probably a little on the expensive side, small and only a little side salad for $12. Also, the majority of the tables are small and have only small stools which wasn't too comfortable for my Mum. We will be back though...

This is my local cafe/bakery so I'm in here at least a few mornings each week because the coffee's great and the hand made breads are marvelous. Try the spicy, unbelievably solid fruit loaf. Irish soda bread is wonderfully earthy and so heavy one thick slice could be a meal. The Turkish bread too, is some of the best around.

Savoury goodies like pies, toasted sandwiches, as well the pastries and muffins etc are all really tasty too, but I have to mention I've always felt them generally a tad overpriced.

The bakery is pretty popular and gets especially crowded on Saturday mornings with the Bay Run crowd, but the staff are ever smiling and do a remarkable job. If Bowan Island ever shut the property prices around here would probably fall.
