Lunch last sunny Saturday for four people turned out to be a very pleasant afternoon. Our two visitors were most impressed with the surroundings, the attentive staff and the beautiful food. We enjoyed quite a selection of dishes including Barramundi sashimi, crispy skin salmon, king-fish, , lamb and a very good cheese plate. Everything was beautifully prepared and served by staff who obviously cared about their work.
My last visit here was for a business lunch and I thought that it was just OK but last Saturday's visit will ensure that we return.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch. I thought the food was thoughtfully constructed and presented although it was disappointing that the barramundi sashimi was slightly frozen! The Jamon was lovely. Rib-eye and salmon mains were to a high standard and the salmon in particular was perfectly cooked, i.e. just under.
The dessert was sublime we shared the jaffa chocolate mousse and it was courageously flavoured strongly, it really worked well. We found the service attentive without intrusive. I question the prices, however, I think that if they prove to be consistent then, perhaps, that is being factored in. All in all we really enjoyed the experience.
I went there for a work lunch and we were given a fixed lunch menu. I am vegetarian and there was no such option for mains, but a special request was made and the chef made me the ravioli.
I had the tart for entree, the ravioli for mains and the chocolate ganache for dessert. The food was very good, the ingredients were fresh and it was very filling despite the seemingly small portions.
The service was slow, but the waiters were polite and the waitress remembered exactly who got the vegetarian out of a group of about 20. That impressed me. All in all, it was a great experience and I will most definitely be going back with my girlfriend.
Had lunch here with my partner recently. Definitely outdoor dining, gotta expect your table, plates, glasses to be speckled with bits of flora, (or dust/dirt). The food was average, we shared the chicken breast and ravioli, the ravioli was a bit too oily for both of us. Service was a tad slow and while we made a booking the day before, they had no record of it.
Been there many times for lunch and love the way the restaurant is surrounded by trees and birds and love how bright and airy the place is. The food is of reliable quality in general. A small thing that I really like is the good sourdough bread they provide, with quality sea salt, vinegar and olive oil. It's very simple to do (sourcing the right supplies?) yet not many restaurants get it right. This restaurant also catered for the cocktail canape at our wedding. The canape were good but they over charged on the drinks which is a shame.
The location is excellent, close to plenty of street-side parking and a great view of either the park or the Art Gallery. The internal ambience, however, is somewhat austere and lacking in life.
Service-wise, Sunday lunch offered a slow lunch - but not by choice. We were after a ponderous and enjoyable meal, and that's what we got but only because of slow and forgetful service. The waitresses were all lovely, but little mistakes like forgetting the beverages and bringing out half-entrées, (olives without the bread) and not releasing any of the entrées until the mains were ready, made an impression that lasted.
The food itself was mixed. Although the rib-eye came out to perfection, the veal schnitzel emerged in its death-throes - tortured through over-frying in a deep brown tan.
Come here for a sunny day's meal and it won't disappoint. Professional service in manner, if not in substance, mixed with a good view makes for a relaxing experience - just try to avoid eating the charcoal.
Had sunday lunch here. Overall the experience was OK but I would not recommend the restaurant. The service by the waiters was just fine but the Kitchens mains was incredibly slow. The menu was limited.
The spatchcock with lentils that I has was overly salted. The yabis for entree was tiny and just like eating 3 small prawns. No flavour to them at all. The other three people said their meals were nothing special. $250 with only a glass of alchohol each (Some had wine others had beer). Not the award winning restaurant that it was claimed to be.
We had a Sunday lunch here for six people (plus baby) and the food and service was fantastic. We had mains (the beef, barramundi and gnocchi) and all were masterful. The desserts were great, the chocolate brulee a fine touch for those with a sweettooth. Those courses with champagne, salads and coffees and tip came to $65 a head. A special anniversary treat. The only negative was the mains came a bit slowly.
Great food. Baramundi cooked to perfection. Speedy service. Great place to have a quick or long lunch. Once again great food. Well done. Will be back soon.
