Came here about a year ago and although I had heard some amazing things about this little pop up bar, I can't say I was overly impressed. Sure, the food was decent and very tasty (meatballs were amazing), but I may have had thoughts of grandeur going in and, unfortunately, left with a little more than a ‘well it was lovely but should have gone up the road for something a little more substantial’.

The wine list was extensive enough with plenty from Italy (which is always a nice touch). Great little intimate spot for a quick drink or two before a night out.

The restaurant is cramped and pretty loud, but the staff were helpful and attentive. My porcini pasta was delicious, but my biggest issue there was too much food and I like my food! All of us found the mains oversized and it was a shame as we were looking forward to dessert. The veggie menu isn't extensive, but if you're not a fussy veggie, you'll be happy with the choices.

I thought the food was good but the prices were a bit mixed. The arancini was $10 for 2 small balls which I thought was a bit steep, as was $19 for a tomato and mozzarella side salad.

The place is small and the tables are very close together – we were practically sharing a table with the people next to us. The chairs are unmatched, so some are more comfortable than others, but otherwise the decor was Ok. The waiters were attentive most of the time, although they didn’t tell us about the specials (we heard them tell the table 3 away). And for a place which calls itself a bar we got a wine list on the back of the menu but no other drinks were offered (cocktails for example).

The arancini were nice although you couldn’t really taste the rice over the concentrated tomato sauce over the top. The steak tartare with mint and coriander was enjoyed but not as much as a more classic version.

The standout was the fusilli with mushrooms – full of porcini flavour on pasta with beautiful texture. The lasagne was homely and nice. The tomato and mozzarella salad was generous but had too much parsley and not enough basil for my taste.

All in all it was really good home-style food which we would be happy to have again.

The food was of a high quality and tasty. I shared the calamari, penne and salad. I liked calamari. It was nice size and good to share. The restaurant has a warmth about it. Overall was an enjoyable evening with good food.

I am a lasagna lover and this place definitely does a fantastic lasagna. Great vibe and fantastic service. The wait staff know their drinks and the menu well, and make great recommendations. They're also friendly and warm and make you feel very welcome. I dine out frequently and this place definitely rates right up there. Relaxed atmosphere with funky class.

What a gem! Despite visiting Bootleg on a busy Friday night, the staff were incredibly helpful and the food and wine delicious. I highly recommend the beef carpaccio starter and the wild mushrooms and sage fusilli. This place has a great vibe and I'll happily return anytime!

Amazing find. Absolutely loved my evening at Bootleg, great service, fabulous varied food and a very comprehensive wine list. Don't you love restaurants where the waiters not only oblige, but encourage you to make menu amendments?
The only criticism is that the tables of 2 at the back are too close together. Lose 2 tables and the atmosphere would be perfect.

Fantastic restaurant. We came here for dinner and the food was divine. The meal was probably one of the best I've had for a long time. I also saw some of the other servings and they were huge. Service is also great and at such a great price and great value for money we'll definitely be back again.
