    3 of us went for dinner this evening, (1 being pregnant) and we received a dish of raw chicken. Upon return the staff were not overly apologetic. We were offered a round of drinks, which we asked if we could make the bottle of wine we had ordered and already drunk as we didn't wish to drink anymore, we were told it had to be a round, however, 3 x glasses of wine was more in total value than the one bottle we had ordered. The lady who claimed to be the manager on duty was rude, arrogant and did not have any idea of how best to deliver customer service nor did she care of the consequences if our pregnant diner had of consumed some of the raw chicken prior to noticing. Will not be returning and being a Bondi local will be passing on the details of this horrible experience to friends. There only compensation was to offer us one dessert between the three of us, hardly compensation for raw chicken.

    Firstly let me apologies again for the dish you received. However I am surprised by your response both at time of paying at Bondi Social and by this review. As manager of Bondi Social I was there on Saturday evening and came over to your table as soon as I learnt of this mistake from the kitchen. I apologised, checked if you would like a replacement, which you accepted and reported it to the kitchen. The staff members who had been serving you also came over to apologies and to ensure everything else was ok, once we had reset.

    Regarding the round of drinks offered, as far as we understood you declined more drinks and we offered you a desert on the house in replacement. You gratefully accepted the dessert and while understandably concerned that one of your guests was pregnant, seemed content with the outcome and how it had been resolved. I ensured and was informed by my staff that they continued to check on your table and apologized numerous times for the under cooked chicken and made sure the rest of your meal was enjoyable- which it appeared it have been.

    When you came to pay the bill I had left for the evening, and a duty manager was in charge which you dealt with. I have heard numerous accounts of how she dealt with the issue and understand she was neither rude or arrogant, as you say, and simply explained the policy we have in place. I have worked with the person in question for over a year, and know she is neither rude or arrogant and is professional at all times. After speaking with you about the issue, she did comp the bottle of wine you had as a gesture of goodwill as you seemed very upset by your experience. I have spoken with the kitchen to see why this occurred and have come to the conclusion it was unfortunately a case of human error. We have put measures place to ensure an error like this never happens again.

    We take any complaints very seriously and the duty manager called me straight away to inform me of the dispute over the bill. While i totally understand and agree with the concern of possibly having a pregnant friend eat raw chicken, we believe this was dealt with in a way which was understanding to your concern and ensured you continued to enjoy the rest of the meal by removing and replacing the dish in question, offering a dessert on us as way of apology, and continuing to offer excellent customer service during you meal.

    We are sorry you do not believe that this was the case, but once again, all my staff and I can do is offer our apologies. We are truly sorry you appear not to have enjoyed your experience of Bondi Social.

    My partner and I used to go to Bondi Social at least once a month and absolutely loved it as they had plenty of vegetarian options (my partner is vegetarian).

    They changed chef's late last year and all of the decent vegetarian options have disappeared from the menu. There used to be gnocchi, corn fritters, stuffed zucchini flowers, eggplant involtini, grilled haloumi etc which were all amazing. Now, vegetarians have a choice of smashed potatoes, mushrooms (which are amazing btw) or salads.

    There is no longer anything on the menu to bring us back as all the "vegetarian" options are more sides than share plates. Such a shame as its an awesome venue and has so much potential.

    Just to let you know we now have new vegetarian options to bring you back! New dishes include Spinach and ricotta Agnolotti, a selection of seasonal roast veggies and our incredibly popular flat bread and totally vegetarian three dips. We also have a great selection of salads(as you noted) and our Mushrooms are here to stay. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our vegetarian menus options, and would love for you to share your thoughts.

    I recently held a "surprise" 30th Birthday here for my partner. I have to say the staff were so friendly and couldn't have being more accommodating in helping me to throw the party. We ordered canapes, which were delish and we also brought in a birthday cake, which they were more than happy to accommodate.

    Even though it was raining outside and we didn't get to use the balcony the ambience was great. I cannot recommend this venue more for holding your next function. Thanks to Jonny Allen and his team.

    I recently held my 30th Birthday Party here and had the $45 degustation menu for 34 people at lunch.

    From the moment we walked in the staff made us all feel relaxed and well attended to. They were friendly and prompt and I couldn't ask for more. We were on the balcony and the access too and from was not great for the wait staff - however they made it seem easy and continued to be helpful and friendly throughout the function.

    The food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of it - each dish was a hit and everyone continued to comment on how yummy it was. The views are, without a doubt, some of the best in Sydney. The booking process with the Manager was smooth and he delivered everything promised. My mum was able to bring a cake and Bondi Social was more than happy to accommodate. I cannot recommend this venue enough!

    The second time I've been there recently. Excellent value. The first time I had the $38 degustation at lunch time and this time the $45 degustation at dinner plus the $9 dessert option.

    As always, the staff have been friendly, helpful and were willing to make several adaptations to the menu to accommodate a vegetarian guests and another who cannot eat sea food.

    The only (small) negative of the night was the dessert. The pastry on the apple tart tartin was far from cooked but this was a minor complication and given we were all so stuffed, it didn't have a major impact.

    I'll be back.

    8 of us went for dinner, and didn't have a very good experience at all. It was not very busy, but the drinks took a very long time to come out, the waitress ran off halfway through taking our orders so we had to flag down another waiter to continue our order. Some of the dishes (including a salad which requires no cooking) took over an hour to arrive and the portions were very small for the price that we paid.

    A couple of dishes didn't arrive and were still added to our bill, and when we questioned it we were dismissed by the waitress claiming that they had been brought out. By this point we just wanted to get out so paid the extortionate bill and left. Would not recommend this place to anyone, go somewhere else up the road for much tastier dishes and better value!

    Thanks for your review and we are sorry you did not receive the service you expected. We really try to look into any complaints we receive, and the only way we know we have done something wrong is by customers coming to us and telling us. If we know, we can ensure it does not happen to others. 


    All our dishes are designed to share and on tables of 4 or more we do recommend our set degustation menus to ensure there is enough food on the table for all to enjoy. Your waitress should have explained this to you on the night. Please let us know if this did not happen. While a salad does not take any cooking it does not mean that this will come out any quicker than any other dish, as all food, cooked or otherwise, will not come out together, and will be spread over time for the table to share. This is why we have designed our degustation menus, so that there is enough for a large table to share at any one time. We are sorry if this was not made clear to you on the night.

    Me and some friends had a great experience at Bondi Social. It has an amazing view, so to sit out on the balcony made perfect scene. Great view, delicious food and great company what a perfect night. The staff are very friendly and helpful which only added to our evening. We will definitely be returning to sample more of their tasty dishes and cocktails. Very good value for money, we definitely got what we paid for and more!

    4 of us went for lunch. From the time of the first phone call to make a booking to when we left the staff were great. We booked a balcony table which rain prevented us from using when we arrived. They had a table ready inside for us and as the weather improved offered to move us back out if we desired. The service from the waitress's was very friendly, helpful, polite and attentive. The food was very enjoyable and extremely well priced. I would have no hesitation in recommending Bondi Social.

    Possibly the worst ever experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Went for a friends birthday, and these guys pretty much ruined the night. Some meals took 90 minutes to arrive and several meals simply never arrived. The senior staff is a rude, arrogant person who simply did not care about us in the slightest amount. Refused to refund us for the meals that did not arrive. I will never be back to this restaurant ever again and urge people to reconsider before they go there themselves. An absolute joke.

    This place has the potential to be somewhere special, instead their poor customer service makes it a place to get out of! A group of us went there for some drinks and nibbles on a saturday afternoon and were pretty disappointed. When we arrived we were asked if we had booked (we hadn't but there were plenty of empty seats).

    We found a table and were given a drinks and nibbles menu only to be told on ordering that the kitchen was closed and couldn't do a tasting plate. We ordered drinks anyway, there was some difficulty in explaining what we wanted (wine and beers and a "vodka, cranberry and pinapple" granted it wasn't written on the menu but they apparently didn't have it and so we had to explain what was in it, vodka, cranberry juice and pineapple juice).

    Even after they took our orders only half the drinks came out and when the wine eventually arrived it tasted off. We left soon after in search of somewhere better.
    I wouldn't go back here until it changes hands which it is bound to do if it keeps up with such low standards.
