Overview of Bona Fides
A fantastic new cafe restaurant that has just recently opened. It is located on the corner of Queen Victoria Building and Druitt St. We specialize in a large variety of great tasting food and coffees, through our fantastic and polite service.
Chose this place for dinner after reading the reviews on this site. Look, I'm sure it's fine for takeaway coffee and a bacon and egg roll, but this is not anything close to a fine dining establishment. So far from it that I'm suspecting these reviews have been stacked. This is a nondescript coffee shop, just like a thousand others in the CBD, with absolutely nothing to recommend it over any other.
The food was mediocre at best, my friends had the fish of the day, which was overcooked. I had the cevapi, which was a pile of little sausages. All meals came with a salad that looked like it came out of a bag. Meh.
I've never been steered so wrong by reviews from this site before, but I guarantee I'll be a lot more skeptical after this experience.
Great place for a pre theatre meal if you are heading to the Genesian theatre round the corner in Kent street. They offer a free glass of wine to theatre patrons. Been there a lot! Their grilled fish is usually excellent and value great.
Love this place! It's such a cute little cafe very close to the QVB. Been back here many times for the scrumptious lunches and good service and value. The serving sizes are generous and definitely worth your money. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a casual place for breakfast/lunch.
I went to the Bona Fides for the first time last week. I was very impressed. The food was tasteful, the atmosphere and layout of the restaurant was so wonderful, the staff were helpful, (especially the cute waiter). The entertainment were great. I enjoyed it so much so that I've referred it to several friends and plan to head back there next week.
I went here upon it's early opening for a coffee and found the place not amazing like some reviewers (each to his own I suppose!). The places was dead upon arrival, no one in there, no music just a barista looking like he didn't want to be there. I ordered a cappucino and took a seat, the place has lovely decore and music was finally put on.
My coffee arrived quickly and was as other reviewers describe creamy with a lovely texture and at a good temperature. I suggest you try it, it's neither amazing nor rubbish, borderline.
I will agree that this is not fine dining restaraunt. I went there to try their breakfast I was surprised with their routine after greeting me I got a glass of water without having to ask (it came with a sliced lemon! Nice touch). I ordered a short black and an Italian breakfast, the coffee was traditional Italian style and I loved the small spoon. Breakfast was good I enjoyed the proscuiito but not so much the sausage. The background music was enjoyable and the seating was very comfortable.
What a gorgeous little restaurant! We had a lovely evening dining out at Bona Fides, food was divine, and very reasonable. We found the service very friendly with a relaxed ambience. Would highly recommend and evening dining out in Bona Fides.
