Bombay (now Mumbai) is the epicentre of India’s festivities, attracting migrants from all over India. These communities bring their unique flavours to the city as Bombay flourishes as a potpourri of the many cultures that now call her home. Now you can experience these exquisite gourmet flavours and textures of modern India all under the one roof.
Opening its’ doors on the evening of October 2nd 2009, The Bombay Gourmet has already started to make an impression about the distinct cuisine it has to offer. At The Bombay Gourmet, we insist on furthering the confines of the usual dining experience. Our focus is a calm and serene dining ambience with the commitment and urgency to provide you with an evening to remember.

At a recent family function of 25 people, everyone enjoyed the lovely food, generous portions and very friendly staff. The Bombay Gourmet made it easy to organise the party, they were very accommodating and flexible. We definitely recommend it!

Absolutely the best Indian I have ever had. We had the Gourmet Thali. Like a degustation, in small bowls served in a big tray and put on the table all at once. It had been recommended by my neighbour and I was very impressed. The ambience is average with cafe style tables and chairs that are showing their age a bit where we sat outside. Indoor and outdoor seating across the road from the Pub. Service was efficient and friendly. Price is well worth it. I will definitely be back.

Serving Authentic curries, dhosas, parathas and naan. Not bad for a suburban eatery though some dishes are a bit oily.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the helpful staff. We had entrees and the Gourmet Thalli for our main courses with the lamb cutlets to share. The food was fantastic and we all had to loosen our belts at the end of the meal. We will be going back with more of our friends who appreciate great Indian food.

If a restaurant goes and has the audacity to put the word 'gourmet' in their restaurant name while serving food that tastes like it came from a jar, well, goodluck with that! terrible, slow service. Over priced below average food. I'd save your pennies and head to the tandoori takeaway around the corner where you can expect a bit more traditional genuity behind the food.

I chose the Bombay Gourmet restaurant for my husband’s 85th birthday luncheon as we often go there to celebrate special occasions and have never been disappointed with our meals. The staff are very friendly, the food delicious and everything spotlessly clean. Dev is an amazing chef and Chanda exudes charm and aplomb.
There were thirty guests and as a novelty feature we chose the thalis. This made it so much easier for the older guests as everything was set in front of them at the one time and the little bowls looked very attractive. The older guests were all born in Bombay and most of the younger ones had visited India, and considered the dishes very authentic to the ones our cooks served up in the Old Country.
After the meal there was entertainment and dancing with plenty of room to move around. All our guests remarked that it had been an enjoyable occasion and we thank our young waiter, Ahmed for being so efficient and helpful.

This is one of our favourite Indian restaurants in Sydney and my escape at times when I am really homesick (for Bombay). Having enjoyed their food on numerous occasions, we recently organised our Dad’s 70th Birthday party at the restaurant. We have to say that Dev and Chanda did a fantastic job of making the event truly memorable.
The menu that Dev organised for us was simply marvellous. He even customised it so we could include our regional favourite, an authentic Manglorean Chicken curry (kori gashi). The food was spread out over 3 courses of entrees, mains and desserts and Dev ensured we could include a wide variety of food (4 entrees, 5 mains, 2 desserts) at a reasonable price.
The quality of the food was amazing and its truly authentic Indian flavours are really to be admired. It’s quite a few notches above the commonplace ‘Indian food’ served at some of the other restaurants in Sydney. Dev’s experience as a Chef with the Taj Hotels Group in India and abroad really shows through.
We received a lot of compliments on the food and the guests found it finger lickingly delicious. The staff was very attentive to our every need. I have to just say, a big Thank you and keep up the good work.

This is a true suburban gem. Authentic curries, dhosas, parathas, naan. The staff are attentive but not obtrusive. We have been here a few times and on our last visit we took a sparkling wine and they brought us chilled champagne flutes. The homemade pistachio kulfi is a must have to complete the experience.

Now what should I say about Bombay Gourmet, I have been there plenty of times, food there is so yummy and delicious that I don't have words to describe. Other indian restaurants in Sydney are just for business but the real taste and flavour of Indian food I found is in this restaurant, baluchi raan, nariyal ka bhoona gosht are my fav dishes. I will recommend you guys to visit Bombay Gourmet and try the yummy curries.

My partner and I have been searching for a good indian restaurant for ages, somewhere where the food didn't bloat you and wasn't heavy and greasy. At last we were able to dine at an establishment where the food was a delight and the service was professional and best of all it was located in 'suburbia'. I would recommend The Bombay Gourmet and will definitely go back again.
