Always a good meal here, fair price for what you get, nice atmosphere, its a good place to go for a nice night out.

Again, don't know why this place is rating so high. I've been going for a long time but the food has gone downhill in the past year. Had the salt and pepper squid, out of a packet and with a dry salad. Plus it was Christmas Eve during the day and they addded on a surcharge on all food and drinks, it's not a public holiday!

Response from Management:
We are always wanting to hear feedback whether it be positive or in your case negative. We are not happy that you feel that the food has declined in the past 12 months however I can assure you that we are always striving to be better using the best and freshest ingredients.

If you have an issue, please do not hesitate to speak with one of our chefs or wait staff on at the time. That way we can deal with the issue there and then. Once again I am sorry that you didn't enjoy yourself on this occasion but we hope to see you again soon.

Don't be mistaken that the blue gum is just pub grub. The menu has been designed with thoughtfulness and is always of awesome quality. A little on the pricey side, but the portions are massive. But be warned you'll be waiting for your food for a while if the pub is busy!

I go here with my family all the time, we really like the food. There's always something yummy on the menu I want to try, and it never disappoints. The staff are really friendly and the service is good. They do their best to get orders out on time, and they now have a note on the menu stating that they try to get food out in 20 minutes, but if it's busier to be prepared to wait a bit longer. It can get very loud though sometimes which makes it a bit hard to talk.

We love the grill at this pub, cook your own steak, always tastes better than when you cook one at home.

Sorry no! no! Took the family here as reviews above sounded promising. Perhaps, we went on a bad night. It's just bland pub fare which is OK but not at the prices they charge. For those prices we expected a little something special. I had the grilled chicken, tasteless and chewy with sauce to tart it up that was uninspiring. Partner had the fish and chips nothing to write home about. No. 1 son had a big slab of rump. No.1 daughter had the caneloni, which was bland and looked like it was a frozen dinner.

Our vegies were cafeteria style and cold. It took a long time for our order to come out. All up without drinks we paid $85. I am not a big fan of the RSL at hornsby, but we all agreed the food was better there and cheaper. Given the RSL's poor reviews I can't fathom why this place is rating so high.

I headed to Blue Gum on Friday night for dinner with a friend. I’m glad we booked because the place was packed, and fully booked! Despite being so busy the food did not take a long time to come out, and I noticed it was the same for all tables around us.

We both ordered from the specials menu, pistachio crusted blue eye cod on a bed of white truffle infused mash with yellow beans. Wow! This was simply delicious, beautifully cooked fish with the mash and beans making the perfect accompaniments. And for $22, what a bargain!

The wine list is quite good (we managed to linger long enough to enjoy 2 bottle of Rolling Shiraz). After a bit of a breather we ordered the dessert pizza to share. On top of the base were caramelised bananas and lashings off hot chocolate fudge and 2 scoops of chocolate ice-cream. Very rich dessert, and definitely too rich/big for one serving! Whilst it was quite nice, I found that the ice-cream tasted more like that cheap ice confection, the base/crust was on the verge of being savoury and there could have been a bit more banana. But it was still a nice dessert to finish off a perfect main course, and it was a steal at $9.

I will definitely be back to sample more of the dishes, this is not just your average pub food, the service is prompt and it won’t break the budget.

In the recent months the Blue Gum has done 180 degree turn in terms of food. The price is right, and you get what you expect from a hotel bistro, large hardy meals that taste great. I had the pork belly yum! My partner had a pizza, the base was just how he liked it and the toppings were fresh and enjoyable. Great value for money. I will keep coming back.

This place is popular, packed on a Wed night. Bistro style where you can cook your own steak or let the kitchen cook it for you. Plenty of other dishes on offer too. I had the Thai beef salad for $14 and it was huge, tasted good and excellent value. The kitchen is efficient due to the buzzer pick-up system. The log fire adds to the atmosphere on a chilly Winter night and they have verandah style rooms that can open up for summer dining. We enjoyed it and will return.
