Im with halfpint, absolutely ridiculous for anyone to complain about prices! you're in the heart of the city looking across the most beautiful view in Sydney. Being a hospo girl through and through I also fail to understand why people complain about the bar being busy, its a hotel bar and a popular stand alone bar, which means that while it has a lovely relaxed loungy feeling Sunday to Thursday, on Fridays and Saturdays it kicks into full gear!
It will be hard to get a table by the window and the more you nag the host for one the less likely you are to get it (this goes for all bars). The staff are friendly and welcoming and if you have to wait for a table, go to the bar and you will get guaranteed attention and entertainment from the bar crew. Some amatuer flarers and just good old fashioned friendly service!
I have no complaints about Blu, except that the quality of drinks is poorer when you get table service, my advice, order at the bar. I'll be back again, and again and again...
Awesome location and fantastic staff. By far on of the finest experiences I have had in the 25 years of running owning and reviewing bars and restauraunts. There is no doubt in my mind that this establishment is one of the finest in Australia. Anybody who doesn't feel this way, obviously doesn't apprieciate true class.
How absolutely ridiculous to complain about prices at a bar located in the heart of the city, in a 5 star luxury hotel with magnificent views. Been to Blu many times and yes there is often a wait for tables but the bar staff are friendly and accommodating so waiting while enjoying one of the superb cocktails is never a problem for me.
Service is fantastic, not stuck up or pretencious which is nice to see from a bar of the calibre. Two thumbs up from me.
What can I say, views are fabulous...if you can get a seat near the windows! Don't suggest going here late on a Saturday night, tough luck getting a proper seat by the window and they seem to let all sorts of people in to crowd the place out even if there is obviously not enough room.
Drinks are overpriced, the view can't compensate for it since the quality of the drinks aren't good. Table service non-existent, waitresses look busy walking around but not really checking who needs drinks. Lot of hype but not enough delivery - shame as the view warrants a much better bar!
The place and the view is obviously gorgeous but it's a shame they can't find a proper barman. I can't understand how some reviewers like those drinks. We had four of them and they all nearly tasted the same. I expect drinks of such quality in a student place where the only objective is to get drunk, but not in a place like this! Service was nice and friendly, though a bit unorganized. They forgot our cocktails but then offered us another two for free as compensation. So can't complain, if only the cocktails would taste of something.
Outstanding venue of world class. Cocktails are expensive, but of the highest quality. And the view is to die for. A must for all visitors to Sydney and locals alike if you havent seen the harbour from this perspective.
Was given standing room until we were told a seat became available. But others were given seats ahead of us. Bar staff are obnoxious. Drinks are pricy but you expect that for the view. What you don't expect is to be over charged by at least $50. a problem I hope to rectify today.
Came here for sugar hits (part of the SMH Good Food Month). Service was so poor that we did not get a seat, and this was after a long wait and having to search for the location of the bar in the hotel.
As a female guest of the hotel I was surprised when I was rudely told by the host to remove my baseball cap when entering the bar. This after a long day of sightseeing was not the welcome I'd expected. OK, I could deal with the fact that the bar was trying to establish a particular sophisticated vibe. Ironically, we were then seated next to a large group with 4 screaming children. Sophisticated? I put my baseball cap back on and left the bar, disgusted at the inconsistent "vibe". That and the $28 glass of wine. The view was about the only thing worth the visit.
