I have been to this restaurant about four times now as a local and am still adamant that the food is very much overpriced for the quality. It is not a restaurant I would recommend if you really enjoy good food but it's alright if you've got money to blow. Walk across the street down to somewhere else if you want real food.

The food was just normal cafe quality, bit bland, ambience not so great, very loud and a bit untidy looking. Our male waiter was excellent, value average, little pricey for cafe food. I had gnocchi, my husband had steak sandwich, both were fine.

Some days you wake up late and you know the next step, in fact the only next step, is to head off to brunch. With this in mind Sir and M'Lady journeyed to Hornsby to and old faithful of ours - Blu Water Grill.
We wanted a quick brunch rather than the usual leisurley type. Service at Blu is normally prompt and today was no exception. We both ordered coffee initially then we were left to decide on our food. M'Lady ordered scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast and Sir, trying desperately not to become Sir-cumference, ordered fruit toast. M'Lady's meal was a hearty serve. The scambled eggs were soft and juicy but still cooked.
Speaking of prices, our coffees were $3.20 each (would have been $3.80 for mugs), M'Lady's scramled eggs were $9.00 and Sirs fuit toast was $4.00. The most expensive breakfast item is the Big Breakfast with the works for $16.50.
Blu Water Grill is a great place for a Sunday brunch taking in the sights and sounds of the busy mall around you while you sip a decent coffe and have a hearty breakfast. Its open for lunch and dinner too as well as just for a coffee and cake. Well worth a Sunday brunch though!

Service was awful. It took us an hour to get our meal and the restaurant wasn't even full. Would not go here again. Poor value for your hard earned dosh.

Blu Water Grill has been a cafe in Hornsby Westfield that I have walked past many times over the years and have only dared to walk into three times. Three times too many.
The only thing this place has going for it is the service, and even that is not good enough to warrant a visit. Not once have I been there without someone at my table or myself witnessing someone at another table return a meal, whether it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner. After so many years in the area and a recent refurbishment, you'd think they could get it right.
All I can say is, thank goodness for the owners that there are no other cafes offering similar meals in the area, Blu Water Grill would be bankrupt in less than a week.

We had to try this place simply because the reviews have been so awful. We went for a Saturday lunch. It didn't start off so well as our prebooked table had been given away which was probably a godsend because it was very noisy at the front part of the restaurant, the outside area. We were seated at the side of the restaurant on the outside which thankfully is all non-smoking.
We couldn't fault the service. Our young male waiter was very diligent and polite. We ordered about six plates of tapas and a bottle of wine. We have had better tapas, but considering it's a shopping centre restaurant/cafe it was okay. Neither the food nor the service would stop us from dining there again.

My partner and I both had the same meal on the saturday night and we are sorry to have to report that we both fell ill eating the 450g rib eye with the vegetables. I'm still not very well. Having said that.. The location of the restaurant in the mall makes for a nice ambience as does the decor inside and it's always nice to know a restaurant is well frequented.
It was a busy night with staff run off their feet but attentive. If we dine here again we definitely will steer clear of ordering the beef. A shame to have had such a bad dining experience here. Pity!

A good place to go if you are in the area. I drove out 50 minutes to the place, expecting a nice cafe style resturant, knowing full well it was inside the shopping centre. I turned up to find it was outside and right next to the very busy centre of the centre. Went with my husband, and it was very crowded - not people wise, but furniture wise.
Booked a week in advance and came for out lunch appointment to find the very last table by the window was ours. And it was hot! the sun was on our face the whole time, unlucky for us to have that table. Could barely move my seat out and mothers with strollers were constantly trying to, annoyingly and stupidly, squeeze through. Was loud with chatter, but most resturants are, which was ok.
The service was fair. The waitresses on shift were nice enough to a point, but it took a while for our drinks to come. Food however, came withing 15 minutes (although we only ordered a steak sandwhich and chicken foaccia, as well as some entres that arrived quickly). Did not like having to awkwardly get the staffs attention just to ask for the bill, which turns out you must get up and pay at the counter. On the other side of the room. We had to manouver around the maze of tables and get back just to pay and leave.
Price and value was fair. For the two of us, we payed almost seventy dollars for drinks, two entrees and two mains. I have been to cheaper places, but it was worth the value of the food.
We ordered the scallops and callamari for entrees. Both were delicious, although callamari could have done with a bit more flavour. My focaccia was nice, but i have had nicer. Would reccomend the steak sandwhich though for lunch. nicely cooked, despite being quite thin.
If i recall, no chips are served at the resturant. This was a dissapointed as my husband eats them with everything! When we asked, they explained they don't deepfry, which is nice and healthier, however I don't recommend taking kids. Especially in strollers! No room, it annoys other customers and there is not much option for them.
If you are strolling around horsby shops or live closeby, it is a good place to go to, but not worth a drive longer than 20 minutes. Would not suggest taking a big group here. a nearby table had 5 people crammed on a tiny table, while a group of 7 took up most of the space. Overall, food was great, would love to eat there again if the ambience of it all didn't make it less enjoyable.

Soooo disappointed! rang 4.5 weeks in advance to book! asked for a table outside if weather was nice, It was! we arrived and were shown to our table by the toilet steps and the kitchen! we were there for 20 minutes no one offered menus or drinks. After 25 minutes I got up ang grabbed menus for our table. Drinks had to be asked for as well not offered.
Food was expensive and very average! service, well there was none. So looking forward to catching up with friends was really disappointing at Blu and we will never go back! oh yes we left a baby toy on the high chair, when we rang to see if they had found the person who answered was so rude and I'm sure didn't even bother to look!

A 20 minutes drive from where I live, but worth it for the friendly service and great food. Prices are reasonable, and I've always left content and happy. The female waitstaff are a joy and always have a smile.
