As a local I regularly eat or take out from Blu Ginger. Over the last several months the quality of the food appears to have become poor, with even the staple and what used to be amazing Samosa's succumbing to an overhaul that has resulted in a mushy potato filling as opposed to a gorgeous textured one. The food is also very inconsistent and I wonder whether they have different chefs on depending on the evening you go. Lastly, portions seem to be different with my usual Chicken Sagwala having smaller chicken pieces in it. Oh and service leaves a lot to be desired. why does the bill now get brought by someone who hasn't served you?

Consistently good Indian food. This is our to go place for a treat. Sheesh kebabs, naan, vindaloo and aloo gobi. What more could you want?

Very nice! Loved the lunch special. We had goat curry and garlic naan. Loved the momo as an entree. The best thing was good value and we were so full with delicious curries. Definitely will be back!

We visited Blu Ginger Indian Restaurant at McMahons Point with a friend after work. The location was a convenient stroll from North Sydney station.
All the familiar authentic dishes are available on the menu. The onion bhajia starter was nice and crispy which prepared us for the generous curry that followed. I particular enjoyed the special pumpkin lamb curry. Make sure you ordered a mango lassi to wash it all down!

Went there on a friday evening with my partner and a few friends. The food was good but had to wait for it for sometime.
The fish curry was excellent and the naans were soft. The vegetarian kadhai was also very good. The mango lassie was refreshing. The only disappointment were the desserts, they just weren't inspiring or interesting enough.
Service was good. It's a bit expensive.

We ate here a couple of weeks ago with a Cudo voucher. Scores are based on the standard menu and not the deal we received.
The food is of a fairly high quality and the service was sound. Mains were butter chicken and lamb korma. I wasn't a fan of the mango ice-cream dessert, but I am never a fan of Indian desserts.
It's not the best Indian I have had but it is certainly better than average.

Very understaffed as they only had two waitresses looking after a full restaurant. The butter chicken was nice but nothing else was special. The service was polite but cold and detached. But this didn't bother me until they got an order wrong and it was clearly their fault. My partner ordered a mango flavoured dessert and I had ordered a pistachio one. The waitress did not have a notepad or anything in her hand to write down our order and when the desserts came out...we got Two pistachios!
I quickly called the waitress over to tell her of the mistake and expected she would swap the desserts quickly. Lo and behold, she flat out said No! and that we had to pay for it when it was obviously not what we had ordered. Mind you we haven't even touched the food yet! I was incredulous and will definitely not return.

Blu Ginger has a few branches in Sydney, this one is located in the pleasant little village of McMahons Point. It seems to do a roaring trade in take-away and dine-in which is always a good sign. First to arrive is a pleasant plate of mixed entrees including Onion Bhajia and Chicken Tikka, both are gorgeous and the highlights of the meal. Also included in the entrée plate was a lamb Seekh Kebab which was less exciting.
Mains were a Panjim Fish Curry which was so orange I suspect it might glow in the dark, and an Almond Pumpkin Lamb. Both were pleasant and good quality Indian dishes, but what can’t be overlooked is that I did not finish either, and as a big eater this rarely happens. Perhaps, after the marvellous entrees the ‘still-good’ mains couldn’t compete. Maybe I was getting full. I’m unsure. Next up dessert.
The interesting option of ‘Gulab Jamun’ (cottage cheese dumpling in honey syrup) was a gamble that didn’t pay off - yuck. The Mango Kulfi on the other hand, yum, one of the nicest kulfis I have had this year, and I am not normally a fan of the stuff. Service was friendly, although with just one waitress things slowed down as the room filled up.

I have been here twice now for work lunches and on both occasions food was really tasty.
On the first occasion I went, we got the banquet which was very good value. For Entrée each person gets a lamp chop, an Indian style Kofta and something else which I don’t remember. They were all tasty and decent sizes. For mains there was a large variety of curries as there was a big group of us. We got naan and rice to accompany our mains with plenty of food left over.
My second experience was also delightful. I got the Goanese prawn curry which is really delicious and didn’t feel so heavy and oily when I was eating it.
The only point that lets this place down is ambience during the day as it is very quiet. But I'm sure if this was for dinner it would be lively.
I really like this place and would definitely recommend it to others.
