I discovered Blackwattle Cafe whilst on one of my walks and haven't been able to find anything like it since. Unique in location, this cafe is a hidden gem offering great views across the Bay to Anzac Bridge. Adding to the charm is that the building itself is a lovely heritage house.

Sit at an outside table on a sunny day (it is worth the potential wait) and enjoy items from the somewhat limited but tasty menu. Classy but not uptight, the cafe has a casual air and is frequented by joggers and dog owners. Completely dog-friendly, with water bowls and little treats awaiting your pooch.

This place has a lovely outlook on one of the inner city's great walks. It was very popular and we waited for a table. After a few minutes a table cleared and we sat down pleased to secure a lovely spot outside. Unfortunately, we sat at "uncleared" table and the waiter went ballistic. He must have had a very bad morning and he ranted and raved at us. We decided that coffee may have been as bitter as the waiter so we moved on. This guy should seek another career.

I visit this cafe regularly. It's in a beautiful, quiet location overlooking Blackwattle Bay. The service is always friendly and efficient. The coffee is great and I had the most delicious fattoush salad. On previous occasions we've enjoyed breakfast here and then walked it off around the bay. Highly recommended.

My partner and I stopped in for coffee and lunch after a beautiful glebe walk. We asked a waitress to look at a menu. She was incredibly rude. After initially ignoring us she told us to sit down and that it was table service. There were no free tables so we had asked to see the menu to decide whether we wanted to wait. We won't be back.

$11.50 for a cup of tea and two tiny squares of toast. Also the barista was exceptionally rude, I don't think he liked my jogging outfit!

This cafe was recommended by a foodie friend but we were very disappointed.

The service was awful / non existent. The waiter came to the table to take our order, only to completely ignore the other person at the table and walk off with only one order!

The milk was curdled when I took it back to the counter the barista responded by saying 'yeah, the milk is curdled'. If you knew it was curdled then why did you serve the coffee?

The water bottle on the table was covered in oil and had food scraps stuck to it.

I will never go back to this place and don't recommend the experience to anyone.

A group of us turned up to this beautiful cafe by the water after a walk. I didn't know this place existed but a lot of people certainly had as the place was very popular. A very quick and attentive waiter told us our table would be ready in a few minutes which it was. We had water and menus as soon as we sat down.

The lunch menu was a little slim on gluten free options but the kitchen was able to arrange something for my wife. As for the rest of us, we were very happy with the quality. The pork pie is a must, Cous Cous with pumpkin and lamb shank was a hit and the braised beef was the most interesting dish at the table.
We waited a little time for our coffee because the place was absolutely full but the service was friendly and efficient. I'd definitely go back there.

I was really disappointed with Blackwattle cafe. The service was slow, the serves very small and unreasonably priced and not that tasty (quite average really) and the menu was very limited. In particular, there was nothing a child could order.

Just finished breakfast here, great coffee, food and location. Keep up the good work (homemade beans are great as was the chicken tellagio sandwich, yum)! will be back for sure.

A group of 5 of us arrived for lunch and the staff went out of their way to make a table up for us (this little cafe is very busy). I love that this place has finally been turned into a cafe, it is a gorgeous location. The menu is limited, but the food tasty and original. Not the best value though.
