I lunched here last week for the first time. The food was wonderful. I can recommend the mussels for entree and the pork cheek for main (perfectly cooked and great flavours). I loved the feel of the converted butcher's shop, relaxed and homey. The service was very attentive and friendly. Bistrode is also fantastic value, superb French food at reasonable prices. I'm looking forward to returning to this restaurant.

The food was beautiful, the best lamb I have ever had. I wanted to try everything on the menu. The wine list is long enough and amazing value. The room is a little bland and loud but you can't expect too much for this kind of crammed space. Looking forward to returning.

Living just down Bourke street I was very excited to hear that Bistode was opening at the old Dragon site. And after last nights diner I was justified in my excitement & what a fantastic surprise when the bill came. Most likely the BEST Value for money Frence Food in town at the moment! ... Yummo !!

I visited Bistrode with a friend shortly after it opened and I have been dreaming about going back ever since. After 17 years as a semi-vegetarian (I ate fish, but no red meat or poultry), I made a New Year's Resolution to start eating meat again and my decision was confirmed after I tried some of the perfectly cooked beef steak my friend ordered at Bistrode. It was unbelievably tender and melted in my mouth like butter. I ordered a piece of perfectly cooked fish with pancetta, and while it was also amazing, I haven't stopped thinking about that steak.

Hence, I'm going back again next week. I love this restaurant - the food is sublime, the service is friendly and efficient and the dining space itself is cool and relaxed. My only gripe is with the two hour sittings. It's really not long enough to savour the menu and feel like you aren't being rushed. During our two hour sitting, we ran out of time and ended up ordering little panfortes for dessert, forgoing proper desserts or coffee, as our time was running out. I hope they get rid of, or extend, this sitting time, as it seems pretty unreasonable and would put many diners off, I'd imagine. I would, however, strongly recommend Bistrode - it's fantastic!

One of the view restaurants that opened recently. The offers are really value for money. The food although simple is all spot on and the prices are so low that you can't believe. Cannot recommend this place enough.

The food was simple and delicious, unique and creative, well worth the visit. The only downside to the whole dining experience is the 2 hour limit, which is great if you wish to eat and run. If you like to eat, linger and relax over dinner, Bistrode is not the place. Did feel a little rushed. However, the service was friendly and helpful. All in all, a great place to eat, not to go and relax over dinner!

I had a delightful experience here. The food was simple but delicious, service helpful, friendly and chatty and the setting is entirely reminiscent of a Paris cafe. I would genuinely recommend this place, try the roast chicken, delectable.

What is all the fuss about. The local food writers have fallen over them selves to praise this place ...abit too much hype. The food is simple and reasonable for the price. Service is good. The night we were there the dining room was cold and the tables far too close as the guy on the next table kept on bumping me.
