Four of us dined at Bistro Papillon last night to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant came recommended and we could not have had a more pleasant time.
The food was delicious, the service was great and the staff were very friendly. For entree we had the rabbit and prune terrine, the escargot and the chicken liver pate. For mains two had duck and two had barramundi. We could not fault the food at all.
When we couldn't decide on a French wine, the waiter offered us a tasting of the two we were contemplating. His knowledge of the French wines and regions were excellent. After the tasting we decided on a lovely Pinot Blanc.
For dessert two finished off with the Creme Brulee and two the Tatin. All in all an enjoyable night. We all agreed that we would visit again.
Two of us will be in Paris in September and last night, I felt I was already there.

The room is small and somewhat noisy but it is nicely fitted and feels european. The menu is not expansive but the options are well thought out and there should be something to please everyone.
The food is Ok. As you would expect with a "french" restaurant, the sauces and gravies are full of time and flavor. The beef I had was a bit overcooked and dry.

For entree, we had Gratinee, which resembles a thin crust pizza with onions and cheese. Looks simple but very delicious.
The mains were Coq Au Vin (chicken casserole) and a seafood special with cream sauce. I thought the chicken was a bit tough and dry, perhaps, overcooked a bit but the sauce was very tasty. We had to order some bread to finish up the sauce. The seafood was Ok but nothing memorable.
Finish the night with a creme brulee which was very nice. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is cosy and good for a romantic dinner or for groups. The price is a bit on the high side as the servings were not large.

I've had worse food and service from one hatted restaurants. The staff were friendly and attentive without being over-bearing or pushy. The food was reasonable in price, good quantity, nicely presented and flavours were great too. Nice atmosphere, music, lighting and decor. Highly recommended!

Their martini is just plain vermouth from the bottle in a normal glass. No olives. When questioned, they stood by their so-called 'martini'.
The pate was delicious, but the coq au vin we were looking forward to was tasteless and had no scallions at all! Creme Brulee was truly excellent and worth going for.
Service was unremarkable. Considering there are other good places for Creme Brulee, we won't be going back here.

Warm and intimate French bistro with wonderful intimate and cozy feel. Excellent service. Food was good but not sensational. I particularly enjoyed the braised rabbit papadelle pasta with preserved lemon. Creme Brulee was very good as well. Perfect end to the evening.

A group of us went to Bistro Pap in the centre of Sydney on a cold Friday night, perfect evening for some comfort French cuisine in a warm, intimate dining room.
The quality of the food was spot on, pay attention to the blackboard specials. The large portion of Toulousain sausage was full of flavour, as was the Duck Confit. The desserts were also excellent, both the pear tarte tatin and crème brulee were well received. We left the place very satisfied.

Very surprised by all the raving reviews in here. We went there yesterday and found that the food was only average for the price. The servings are very small (esp. the creme brulee, don't think I've ever seen such a thin layered creme brulee). There is a good selection of food but it is not that authentic.
The service was very slow and we were left waiting to order for long periods of time. The wine was disappointing and very expensive. Lastly, I am French and a cheese enthusiast and the cheese selection is poor to say the least.
One good point is the ambience, the setting is very nice, the French waiters and music all add to the French experience.

I´ve been to Bistro Papillon a number of times now for lunch and dinner and on each occasion it has been a great experience. The service has been exceptional, the waiters are all very efficient with great suggestions for wines to accompany the meals and the wine list is really good value.
The food is superb, I love the Les Tartines and prawn entree, the prawn linguine is also amazing! For dessert my favourite is the Crème Brulèe, perfect with a glass of french dessert wine. I would definitely recommend this Bistro and will be back!

What a wonderful Bistro in the middle of Sydney. Our waiter Clement was extremely efficient and was not intrusive in the dining experience. We had an early sitting as there was a table of 17 coming. The food and service was superb. The winelist was good. Will go there again.
