Booked in for a mid-week meal for a special occasion. We were the only couple in the entire restaurant, so felt a little awkward. The waiter we had was absolutely professional. Pity about his colleague who kept pacing the restaurant with obviously nothing to do. Food, however, was delicious (duck entree was nice) and worth the slight awkwardness. Furnishings were impressive. Worth trying, it has promise.

This restaurant was a real disappointment for us. The reviews and score on eatability bear no resemblance to our experience sadly. The food was poor quality, the service rude and the atmosphere non existent as the place was almost empty (not surprising really!). I had to send my food back as it was cold and undercooked, I can't remember the last time I complained in a restaurant and the response and how I was dealt with was just appalling.
The kitchen staff wanted to argue about how the food was cooked etc and made a real scene from the open plan kitchen, he was totally unprofessional. I really could not recommend this restaurant to anyone!

We visited here last week for a Birthday Dinner. As it was a special occasion we decided to have the 6 Course Degustation. Everything was exceptional and the matching wines were very good. I am not usually a fan of Degustation menu's because but Bistro Lilly definitely does a great job. Service is very nice and relaxed.

Hiramasa kingfish is possibly the signature dish and it is terrific. The venue interior is definitely what I would call a bistro.
24 Apr: The venue's still in a terrific location, but some dishes have become a bit heavy-handed. I'll explain this, as I managed to try four dishes: "Petuna Ocean Trout Fillet and Yamba Prawn Smoked Tomato, Cucumber, Ligurian Olives and Baby Basil". This was the best dish for me on the night. "Fillet of Beef Rossini 180 gram Grassland, Marble Score 2, Brioche Crouton Foie Gras and Black Truffle Butter, Glazed Vegetables, Madeira Jus". This was great, however, I've had black truffle butter with more truffle aroma.
"House Smoked King Salmon and Ricotta Cannelloni Preserved Lemon, Dill and Tomato Olive Oil" was ok, however, it only had bits of salmon and the overall taste was heavy on smoke. "Cracked Pepper Linguine with Speck, Pancetta, Baby Peas and Parsley" was in my opinion, not good. The pasta was not el dente, and I felt a bit undone as the menu did not state there'd be so much thick cream on it.

Bought an online voucher for a date night out. We ordered plenty of extras (sides, entrees) on top of the offer but felt the dessert was a bit expensive for what it was worth and in comparison to most other places of the same standard if not better. Lovely atmosphere, food was average with top quality produce but not the best combinations. My ocean trout was drowning in vinaigrette and the scallops were a tad on the tougher side. The waitstaff were great, manager was actually a bit dismissive and didn't make us feel all that welcome when we turned down the dessert / wine menu.

Bistro Lilly is in a great location has beautiful decor and mostly great food. I just wonder how long this restaurant will last with its current attitude that fellow eatability reviewers have also noticed. I had trout with sundried tomatoes that were inedible. Tried to politely explain the taste to the waiter but he just snapped “that’s how they’re supposed to be” (click through to my blog for the rest and a pic)

Tried their degustation menu. Food was alright but can't say there was any great highlights for me.

We've dined here and while we enjoyed the food, we thought that for the price we paid and for a fine dining restaurant the food was just ok. There was nothing special about it. The only thing that was really good is the apple tart.
The service and ambience were special though.

If service is important to you then I would definitely not recommend Bistro Lilly. Although the food was good, it certainly does not make up for the appalling service we received. The people who looked like the senior staffs were extremely rude.
Firstly no one came to seat us (we were standing at the door for a while and had to walk to the back to look for someone), our reservation could not be found after we had booked online then confirmed twice before arriving, they said condescendingly “we don’t do cake” after we had asked them if we could serve our birthday cake, and in the end they charged us the wrong degustation menu on the bill.
All of this I would have overlooked if they hadn’t had been so rude! This was my first and last time to Bistro Lilly.
