A fresh, modern environment with plenty of personality and a professional kitchen are the keys to our great food. The menus change seasonally to take advantage of the freshest and highest quality ingredients with daily specials providing excellent variety
Bistro 44 in Blacktown is a new addition to the culinary map of Sydney's greater west, a concept borne from 2 locals who along with being best friends have a shared passion for great food without the pretentious surroundings that can sometimes accompany it. Bistro 44 opened in late 2007 to excellent reviews and was featured in a number of local newspaper articles for its exceptional coffee, great food & attentive service. Anthony Pinto & Waiel Galal's vision of bringing contemporary food within a stylish backdrop has been more than realized, come see for yourself.
Our friendly staff will remember your names and your orders, you will receive sophisticated fresh generous servings at value prices, that are always delicious! You'll enjoy the atmosphere with music and contemporary art exhibitions that change seasonally also with the food.
We have had to close dinner service unfortunately despite the great reviews from our customers, unfortunately we just didn't get the numbers we needed to keep dinner going.

This restaurant is situated in the heart of Blacktown and the perfect place to head to for breakfast or lunch during a busy day. We went there for lunch during work hours and found that the place only had a few customers. Blacktown being Blacktown, there were some interesting people there. We were greeted with a warm, friendly smile and were showed to our seat that was towards the back of the restaurant.
The decor was definitely Aboriginal influenced and the restaurant was furnished in earthy browns and orange that is almost synonymous with Aboriginal culture. There were some Aboriginal art pieces to augment the tone of the restaurant. The fans and service area, however, were bright blue and had a slightly tacky “tiled pool” feel to it. Otherwise, this place captured the feel of a lunchtime eatery perfectly.
We didn’t have to wait too long before our meals arrived. We ordered the Bistro sliders, a delectable trio of mini burgers which featured a Wagyu beef beetroot burger, a Portuguese chicken burger, and a Lamb with mint yoghurt. Each was delicious in its own right, with the Wagyu beef burger being the definite standout. The beef tended to melt in your mouth and the only improvement I could suggest was to have a thinner patty to enhance the delicacy of the meat.
The Portuguese chicken burger, was highly reminiscent of the Oporto’s burgers, with a gourmet veil. I had the Texas smoked ribs, which were absolutely delicious and presented in its own bed of cold potato salad. The meat was cooked to perfection and the sauce was just beautifully spiced. The smokiness of the ribs was thoroughly infused throughout the meat.
I also ordered the mango frappe, for which they had informed me they had run out of ice. They did, however, offer to make me a mango smoothie, which was also delicious, which a thick natural mango flavour. The cappuccino was nothing to write home about. All presentation for was top notch.
Bistro 44 has impressed me mainly with its menu. It seems to have a variety of delicious sounding food and the best part is, it keeps its promises. It seems to have a dish that can pique every individual’s tastebuds. Come here to enjoy some good food in an interesting Aboriginal backdrop.

I had read about this place and was keen to try it out. Unfortunately, they stopped dinner services. I found out the hard way by turning up one Saturday evening. I was most disappointed with that, especially since their website shows no signs of being closed for dinner. (And still doesn't show, in fact it actually says its "Now open for dinner"..).
I was keen to try it this place anyway, so I came out for lunch. I was most pleasantly surprised at the high quality of food for relatively low price. I only had the Tempura Fish, but I thought the quality of fish (I am not sure what fish it was, but it was a nice meaty dense fish, not a cheap flakey one) was excellent, presented nicely on beer battered chips and salad.
Service was excellent and staff were very friendly. Ambience was ok, I guess because I was there for lunch by myself, I did not think or feel it was anything special.
But in summary, I think that these people have a very good menu with what appears to be well cooked and prepared food at low prices. I will definitely come back and try other dishes and I certainly hope they will open for dinner again soon, or if not open up somewhere where people are willing to pay to enjoy good food.
Response from Management:
Hi Anthonyxf,
Thank you very much for your great review. I apologise for not updating the website sooner, I will make it a priority, and get my web guys onto it. I'd be keen to find out how you heard about us also.
Also, for wasting your time that Saturday evening I'd like to send you a $10 gift voucher. Please send me an email to info@bistro44.com.au with your details. If there is anything else I can do you for please let me know. We hope to open again for dinner and I will let you know.

I am gobsmacked that a place like this exists in Blacktown. I visited last night with a friend and we were both amazed at the quality of the food for the exceptional prices. I have previously visited several French restaurants, mostly in the city or North Shore, and I believe that the food here is on par, and sometimes surpasses what I've had at other places.
I had the confit duck, which came with lovely baby carrots, potatoes, braised cabbage and bacon, and a sumptuous rillette. The duck was confidently executed, with crisp skin and the meat falling off the bone, as it should be. The rillette was an extra tasty treat, herby and creamy and divine.
My friend had the sirloin cafe de paris, again well executed, although it was served a touch more than medium rare. Again, we were treated with something extra, this time a lovely vinegary side salad featuring crisp bacon and a perfectly poached egg. My crepes Suzette were a beautiful balance of citrus tang and syrupy sweetness, complemented by the slight bitterness of shredded orange rind. Quality vanilla bean ice-cream rounded it off.
All in all, we paid about $40 a head (without drinks). Who knew you could get confident French bistro food in Blacktown? Hopefully, they will keep up the dinner service (or better yet, move to Parramatta and show up the mediocre restaurants that dominate Church St).

The best meal I've had in Blacktown hands down! So many interesting flavours, presentation was really something else, and the meals are very creative and taste beautiful. We're lucky to have such a nice place close to home. Staff are friendly and service was great too, but food is outstanding I will be telling everyone about this place. I won't eat out anywhere else until I've tried everything on the menu.

Too long to wait for waitress to take order, had to keep asking for top ups of wine, not in wine bucket at table.

I came in for dinner the other day as they had just opened for dinner a couple of weeks ago. I live in the area and have been a regular customer during the day.
The food is fantastic, and has a French bistro theme. They completely transform the place from a cafe by day to a beautiful restaurant by night.
The waitress was very nice and food came out perfect. I had the confit duck, and my husband had the beef tenderloin. We both loved every bite. I will be coming back again to try the rest of the menu items as they all sounded great. Thank you to all the staff at Bistro 44 for bringing excellent food to the area. It was much needed!

This cafe is better at breakfast than lunch in my opinion, lunch menu is ok but its definitely the place to go and sit outside and enjoy a nice breakfast in the sun, poached eggs and smoke salmon is delicious, prices are very reasonable and staff are quite friendly.

The team at Bistro 44 are fantastic. The meals are always great and great value for money. If this place was in the heart of parramatta/city you would have people lining out the door. Thankfully for us it's in Blacktown and we can enjoy the great food and coffee that's missing in this suburb! Highlights are definitely the pasta songal and the rocket salad.... yumm!

For so many positive reviews (though the reviewers, a lot seem to have less than 10 reviews each) I had to check it out myself. I've only had the crab risotto and its ok, its reminded me too much of Chinese sticky porridge. The Andrew chicken burger tasted like bbq chicken in between a big bun and some sauce added to it. Admittedly both of these dishes did fill me up
The service was nice and friendly and the place seems to have a few people there, with an inside and outside option for seating. For cafe food, its better value than other cafes.

Read the review on this site and suggested to my wife to try out the breakfast. Wow, the food was great! The poached eggs came out perfect, slightly runny egg-yolks, just the way I like it. My wife ordered a fresh juice with orange, apple and mint as she loves mint and it is not often on menus. The waitress came back asking her how the juice was because fresh juice was new on the menu. She was keen to know whether the mint had come through.
Well, in fact, we could not taste the mint much, following a conversation between my wife and her about different ways of adding the mint into the juice, Viola, my wife was offered a new glass of juice free-of-charge to try and the mint came through beautifully being refreshing and giving the juice a lovely lime green colour, well for people who enjoys mint, do go along and give it a try! Thumbs up to the dedication in the art of food and drinks! Will be back for lunch!
