Food: ribs are chewy and taste off! steak is Always burnt and raw on the inside! presentation is always sloppy, chips are always soggy and terrible.
Service is a -1 - Always slow and rude.

Value: expensive rubbish! better to go down to the pub and get food there! This place is truly a waste of space and they really shouldn't offer food that they don't know how to prepare or cook or dish out!

I was here last night with five other people. We called up on Thursday to make a booking and then to confirm it again on Friday. You think that if you make a booking, you are guaranteed a table as soon as you arrive there but we had to wait just over fourty minutes for a table. The staff were just rude about it too.

We finally got our table and it was so cramped and tight, it wasn't comfortable at all. The waiter came up to us about 10 minutes in and asked if we were ready to order. Mind you, we had not even received menus yet. We received a salad as our entree and we had to ask three times for a pair of tongs.

A couple of us who ordered pizza as mains, got them with the entree but those who ordered steaks as their mains had to wait over an hour for their meals. The pizza I ordered was pretty good. Generous with toppings. However, the steaks which my friends ordered were overcooked, not hot enough and dry.

The staff are very unprofessional. Tables which people were dining on earlier were still left as is, cluttered with food all over the place. I will never come here again.

Went here with my boyfriend last saturday, booked before hand, and we got there and there was absolutely no one there to greet us or take us to our table, we were told to sit and wait for a table, which ended up being at least nearly half an hour. There was just way too much going on, with the orders outside, inside, upstairs and also take away orders. The restaurant needs to learn when to say no. There were queues of people waiting to be taken to their seat even when they had booked a couple of weeks ago.

We finally got our cramped and uncomfortable table and ordered a bowl of pasta each. Far too much in the bowl for one person to eat, it made me feel a bit sick and all I wanted to do was leave and get out of there. Definitely will not be going back to Big Johns anytime soon.

If the service was bad before it just got worse, the management of Big Johns have had an ATM installed on site and raised the Eftpos limit to $50.
Either - they are trying to increase their income from the $2.50 fee for using the ATM or they are trying to increase the non GST sales by forcing customers to pay cash.

Either way this just demonstrates the lack of respect they have for their customers. Take a bow Big Johns, you're now the cheapest on service as well as the cheapest of quality!

This is a horrible place and we won't be back that's for sure. The service is so bad it's just so annoying, they don't greet you when you walk in, we had to wait for a table - they took other people to table before us, although we were waiting longer only later to get a table on the hallway to the toilet - absolutely uncomfortable! The bar full of dirty glasses, they surely should train there staff or get some more. The food is so greasy and oily! It was not worth it. Can't recommend it at all!

I booked a table for dinner on upstair as we are group of 22 people, food was nice but the service was excellent as well. Waitstaff on upstair was well experience and friendly. However, they were very busy. I just love to have dinner there.

Bigger is not better! had the marinara, it was so huge! but the seafood I could find in amongst the penne was so over cooked the crab was almost liquid! the 1 prawn was like rubber and the mussel shell were broken all through the dish. My hubby had the veal and you could have souled your shoe with it and the sauce was absolutely tasteless. When I told the waiter how disappointed I was with it he rolled his eyes.

We provided feedback to the manager the cassata ice cream tasted a little off. The female manager didn't seem to care even though she explained it was probably because it was the last of the batch sitting at the bottom of the freezer. Hello! Its a shame because her young staff were courteous and professional.

Only I can say that this restaurant is terrible, every time we come they say air condition is not working and it is more hot than outside, we saw some times creepy john being jellowing on all staff while they were giving good service, terrible noisy environment, only food and service is nice.

My friends love this place. Big portions is the main reason you come here, and they are big. The pasta has only 1 size and its huge, the pizza's (not sure what size we ordered) were nice, plenty of toppings on it, and the ribs were a little disappointing, not much meat on them (Yes I know ribs don't have much meat anyway) and a little burnt.

Service is ok, its really busy there and at times it was hard to grab someone. To make room on the table we placed the contents of one tray of ribs (which comes with chips) onto the other but the waiter wanted to take the chips away from that tray! I don't know why...

Ambience wise its just cramped, and even the corridor leading to the toilet has four 2 people tables stuffed in there. Value, its reasonably priced food but its the portion sizes which give this place value.

We didn't finish everything among 5 people, and we all paid less than $30 each. I can see why my friends like this place.
