A weekday morning late brunch. Service was pleasant. We sat outside because it it was hot. Not the best area but pleasant enough. I think inside would be great when it's cold. Breakfast was great. We loved to corn fritters. A little too much corn for me that made them fall apart but overall it was great.

We met some friend for brekkie this Saturday. Service was good. Our waiter was entertaining enough to be on late night TV. Quite surprising. Other waiting staff were cheerful and welcoming. Unfortunately, the kitchen staff didn't match the service this morning as all the eggs were overdone, we got the toast we didn't ask for, the toast was flat and soggy in the middle and seemed to be spread with lard rather than butter. Not sure if I'd risk this again.

Went to Big Brekky with GF last weekend. That was 1st time for my GF. Was very difficult to get table because of ultimate food and value. My GF asked me that BB is a place where we have to come again. There were few things to sell as retail which I never noticed before. GF picked that in once. Thanks to BB staff for your service and food.

Went here with some friends on a Monday morning. Service was ok but could have been better, especially as there was hardly anyone else in there. I had the omelette with bacon, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and toast. Was very disappointed in the taste and presentation but really the worst part of it was finding a very suspicious looking hair in it - after that I couldn't finish it. I certainly won't be going back.

We used to go to Big Brekky, quite regularly for years, and on some occasions went with different group of friends, and introduced them to the place. Last Sunday (July 17) we went back after a short break, only to be greeted by unfamiliar faces. When we asked for Libby, we were then told that it "changed hands" it left us a little uneasy, especially when we were told that the "kitchen staffs" bought her out.
The food took a while to come out, which was not unusual for that place, however, my omelette was stone called. My partner had eggs with smoked salmon, and smothered in mascarpone. We ordered a white tea that never arrived. We asked the waitress that we were still waiting for the white tea...She told us Oh we run out that's why you didn't get it. Well it would have been nice if it was related to us. Forget it, not going back again.

I went once, because I drive past every day. I remember it well, it was was a quiet weekday just like any other. there I was with my friend and confidant. Unlike many other negative reviews listed below, it was not at all busy and thus did not warrant any delay whatsoever. But alas, there we were, faced with what appeared like and angry waitress leftover from a busy weekend and told she had to work on a Monday. She was so very pouty.
The coffee (Campos) was indeed reasonable, however too weak to justify a top rating (try the coffee at Alchemy for the best in Sydney - and it's in Marrickville!). Then the food arrived. It really should have stayed as raw ingredients in the kitchen without the inept handling from a certificate 2 trained cook out the back - trust me, I can tell.
My omelet, which at no point either written or verbal was told it was a Spanish style (tortilla) omelet. It was thin, overcooked to the point of resembling a dish sponge and best of all, it was burnt on the base. I ate 2 forkfuls and stopped.
The other meal was the fritters - so huge a small African country could have dinned for a month on it. When will people learn, huge does not = value. Give me great produce, cooked with love and respect, charge the same and I will be in guaranteed heaven. It was doughy, dry and would have done better eating toe clippings.
As it turns out, I approach said wench at the till and explain, kindly, the situation, only to be greeted with "I'll let the chef know" and presented a full bill. Really?
There was no love. I love love! But alas, it was not to be. For a place that calls themselves "The Big Brekky", their name sake should reflect a solid, well cooked, nay, awesome breakfast menu, based on amazing produce. Someone is taking the piss! It's you Big Brekky. Will not return!

Still in mourning for the pancake specials, every visit used to be an amazing surprise with fantastic use of seasonal fruit. I can't bring myself to go anymore. Can someone post a review if they come back?

There’s no denying the popularity of this inner west breakfast specialist; so if you dine on the weekend, you should come prepared for a wait. The locals come for heaving plates of good produce, like the signature Big Brekky ($18). Perched like a mountain on Sonoma bread are scrambled eggs, whole cherry tomatoes, an undercooked slab of potato gratin, tasty mango chutney, bacon, and chicken and rocket chipolatas that are so good I suspect they come from local standout AC Butchery. A plate of Corn Fritters ($16.50) is also abundant. The fritters themselves are bursting with juicy sweet kernels of corn, but could have benefited from seasoning – in fact both plates could have. An errant coffee order eventually resulted (after questioning) in a Campos Latte ($3.30) that tasted burnt. Juices, like a vibrant Carrot, Mint and Ginger ($6) fared much better. Venturing back on another occasion to try the sweeter offerings was similarly hit-and-miss. An over-sweet plate of French Toast with Banana, Caramel Sauce and Caramel Pecans ($14) came dotted with large, sugary clumps. Further investigation revealed they disguised pecans. Do us a favour: if an element doesn’t work in the kitchen, don’t put it on the plate.

Excellent breakfasts, been back about 5 times since my first time. The shabby chic decor reduces the 'ambience' that the whingers below seem concerned with but the food more than compensates. The vibe and service is relaxed but that's what you want on a Sunday.

I love Big Brekky. The original and varying breakfast menu keeps me interested to return again and again. I like a kitchen that is willing to experiment which is what this place does very well. Whilst it can be busy, its a sign of a gem, and is worth the wait.
