Notes
The drive down to the restaurant from Berowra is quite tight and windy in some areas. During the day it is quite a nice drive and dinner diners will find it abit safer during the night as the headlights give more than ample warning of oncoming traffic.

Went for the first time yesterday with friends who have been regulars. They were surprised to hear the management had changed upon enquiring about the new menu. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal in beautiful surroundings.
The salt & pepper squid melted in your mouth tender. The bread dips were vibrant and fresh. The mains were good sizes and well cooked. We had fish & chips, not greasy, the warm duck salad - voted a winner. Shared dessert. All in all a very lovely, relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Went for breakfast here this morning and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were attentive and friendly and the portions were generous. Will definitely be coming here again, but this time for dinner, as the menu looks great, the view is just beautiful too!
I've been here for breakfast on a Sunday morning, and due to its great location and view, and friendly staff, I wanted to give it a good review - but sadly, no. I found the food disappointing and poor value.
The poached eggs were hard boiled, the "toast" wasn't toasted (still white, apart from the soy sauce stains). There was too much milk in my flat white. Lukewarm. Others said coffee was "okay". Breakfast dishes were from what I remember, around $20. For that price I expected a lot better quality. A restaurant/cafe should be able to do a decent breakfast as a bare minimum.
While the staff were pleasant, I saw several people walk in when it started to get busy for lunch and stand there stranded, vainly trying to get someone's attention to be seated. I saw one unsuccessful couple walk out. The location above (not on top of!) the ferry overlooking Berowra Waters is beautiful and has so much potential, I only wish it could live up to it.
In summary: I only had breakfast so it would be unfair to dismiss it out of hand - I'll give it one more try for dinner. Friends have had good things to say, so despite what I've written here I'll go with an open mind and hope it's a better experience.
We went for lunch on the weekend and found that the portion size was a little small for the reasonably priced items on the menu. For example I ordered the salt and pepper squid for $16 and all I got was five small pieces of squid and the dip that accompanied it which was disappointing if I didn't have a starter I would have still been hungry. Adding some salad would have certainly made a difference.
I observed that the people who ordered the fish and chips had huge proportions but also paid more for this dish I think it was something like $23 or $26. Apart from that the location is really nice and the service friendly if they just adjust the portion sizes it would certainly round of the experience nicely.
This restaurant was a nice surprise. The service was friendly, the location nice and the food was superb. This place should be alot more busy than it is. Do yourself a favour and skip that salty crap from Mickey Dees and have a decent feed.
After being a Berowra resident for a few years, my husband and I went there to celebrate his birthday and the evening coincided with earth hour, so we also enjoyed a candlelight dinner. The food influence is Japanese / Korean and the portions are relative to the price. An added bonus was the entertainment book so we had 2 entrees, 2 mains and 1 dessert for $100.
Service was very attentive and the food was very impressive. Being on the national park, don't be alarmed to see a few native animals nearby. The view is quaint (best enjoyed during daylight savings ) and is certainly worth a return visit. Don't forget to BYO.
There is no mobile reception down in the valley so you won't be disturbed by ringing phones during dinner, but don't drink too much as it's a long walk up the valley and cabs won't go down there for obvious reasons ! Reservations are important as they stagger the reservations to ensure you don't wait too long for your food as the kitchen appears quite small.
Lovely place to eat and sit and look. We park on the 'other' side and get the ferry across on foot as parking can be hard nearby. Overly complicated menu, but does offer some enjoyable dishes. BYO is always fantastic, especially with mains around $25 you won't break the bank. As with almost everything in the Hills area though, don't expect funky inner city food or service. Perhaps, one day....
Lovely place with beautiful views of Berowra Waters. This is the old Berowra Waters Teahouse and the people running it now are doing a fantastic job. The Australian/Asian fusion food is delicious and while a bit on the pricey side it is BYO and the staff are friendly and make it a great experience.
I agree with the reviewer below that the restaurant on the other side of the river is awful - I suggest avoid the buffet seafood place across the ferry and try this one on the Berowra side of the river. It's just what Berowra needs and I hope to see more people going there (it was not busy when I went).
I agree with the review below. This really deserves to be full all the time especially when compared with the truly awful 'dining' experience available at the marina. This has a nice interior and wonderful view, with some really nice dishes. Great to see someone doing something a little different in the area - and do not forget it's BYO!
We have been to this restaurant a number of times and have never been disappointed. The new Korean owners have modernised and tidied up this well-known restaurant buiding by the ferry, but retained its old-world charm. The views are breathtaking, and the atmosphere very friendly and welcoming.
On our most recent visit we were surprised and disappointed to see only three other groups of diners. The food is described as "contemporary fusion cuisine", which consists of "mod Oz" with Korean and Japanese overtones, beautifully presented and quite delicious. Entrees range from around $12 - $17, mains $20 - $28, and desserts from around $11, and servings are more than generous. BYO wine and beer, and if you have an Entertainmnet card, it's an even greater bargain.
On a summer evening, what could be better than dining by the water, with the chance of a visit from a friendly possum? This place deserves to succeed, so come on Sydneysiders, drive in through Galston and cross over on the ferry, or take the switchback road from Berowra. Either way you have a real treat in store without paying inner city prices!
