Very good, hearty food and enthusiastic service. I still find the dining room rather close and noisy, but the restaurant has definitely improved in its latest revamp. If anything, the entrees and puddings (this place still seems to me to have an anglo, 80s ambience) are more interesting and satisfying than the main courses, which are a bit limited and predictable. The upstairs bar is a plus, and a great spot for a post dinner drink or two.

After not visiting for years we dropped in one Thursday evening and were pleased we did, the service and food both impressive. They served fresh sour dough bread to start, and I had a salad starter of beetroot, goats cheese, Hierloom tomatoes and walnuts which was delicious. I then had rib eye, which was huge, juicy, succulent and cooked beautifully. Nothing could be faulted during our meal here and we will go back!

I think of the Bellevue as a bit of a Sydney institution. I was a regular back in the days when the bangers and mash were <$15 but obviously it has been years.
The Bellevue was as I remember, high end good quality pub grub. I ordered the pork belly special, a healthy size serving with good crispy crackling! The apple crumble was just as my mum makes so I was not disappointed.

The staff are efficient, and the dining room is clean and fresh, like a bistro. It is relaxed, and despite the white table clothes, not stiff and stuffy. A good option for a meal if you are going to have those moments of silence as there is plenty going on around you.

Went for dinner on Friday night, group of 8 of us. The mains ranging from salmon (tough and overdone) on bland cous cous through to sirloin which was tough and overdone. Wait staff were confused with the easiest of requests, ie., can you bring the entree salad (delicious) out with all the mains for the middle to share, came out one tiny salad for 8 people to share for entree by itself. Desserts were average and all at a price (except for the crumble - delicious) which I would have expected higher quality for.

We went for Sunday lunch. The dining room is light and airy, the staff pleasant and efficient, tables set with white linen and smart dinnerware. MM chose the special roast pork belly with red cabbage and mash. I had the battered flathead fillets with shoestring fries, tatare sauce and peas.

Both mains were delicious. MM's pork had moist tender meat, crisp crackling, delicious jus and hearty serve of veggies. My fish was spanking fresh, in a light crisp, non-greasy batter. The fries were crisp and hot, what else can be expected?
MM managed to squeeze in dessert, the pavlova with cream and passionfruit. Two excellent long blacks completed the meal.

That was on 15th March, 2010. More recently I had a solo lunch to check the infamous corned beef. I agree this is a less expensive cut but would like to make a few comments about restaurant pricing. Some costs are the same, regardless of what I choose to eat, wages, rent, laundry, any licences needed, insurance, power, whatever.

Cooking less expensive cuts can be as difficult, needing as much care as flipping an expensive steak under the grill. My corned beef was meltingly tender, a generous serve, with the mash they serve in heaven, perfectly cooked cabbage and carrots and a mustard sauce with just the right bite to it.

Pretty dining room which is so different from the dodgy pub you walk through to get in. They do great comfort food here, I can't imagine dining on a hot summers night but I would be keen to try it!

Quaint little dining area tucked behind this old Paddo pub. Lil Neecy and I dined here recently for lunch. We shared a very tasty warm salad containing jerusalem artichokes, egg and peas for entree while for mains we had the corned beef (silverside) and the sirloin.

The Silverside was very tasty while the sirloin although a good size and cooked to perfection, unfortunately, was very gristly. I had a great deal of trouble cutting into it. I was using so much force I thought I would crack the plate. The service was friendly and appropriate, a great wine selection as you would expect in a pub, unfortunatel, we walked out thinking that $38 for a poor quality cut of beef was not good value.

Love the food and atmosphere, although a bit pricy for the pub-style food.

I've eaten at the Bellevue for years and the food is great. Good hearty meals mixed with modern Australian. Way above market price though so value for money is low in my view.

As an example, let me tell you about the corned beef (originates from the toughest part of a cow). Whilst absolutely delicious, it's corned beef. In 2008 it was $25. Remember, it's corned beef people. In April 2009 I went back. They've renamed it Wagyu Silverside and it's now $31. Remember it's corned beef. Are you kidding me!

After hearing fabulous things about the Bellevue Dining Room we finally got a chance to check it out when we arrived back in Sydney for a 2 month holiday! I had eaten at Moncur years ago and loved it but was very keen to check out its lesser known offshoot down the hill. (I am a chef in London and my wife is a restaurant manager)

The front bar reminded me of a quirky London pub and after a quick drink out the back was one of the cutest little restaurants I've ever seen. We almost didn't get in on our first night as it was rammed! We dined here 4 times over the 2 months in Sydney and loved it. It was a stark reminder that in a world of celebrity chefs and complicated dishes sometimes simple is best!

The only downside was being looked after by a staff who seated us one night(possibly the restaurant senior staff?) who ran about the restaurant like a chook with its head cut off, was very short with us and seemed to be barking at her staff alot. Other than this one incident the service matched the venue. Relaxed, friendly and knowledgeable.

All I have to do now is find a local in London that sells corn beef and cutlets that are as good as the Bellevue! Well done.
