Park on Cumberland st near the Glenmore Hotel. Beside the Glenmore hotel are steps which lead down to Gloucester Walk (pedestrian only) continue and find bel mondo on the right. Do not take the second set of steps which lead to Argyle st.
In the heart of sydney's rocks, with views to the bridge and the Sydney Opera House bel mondo is an icon of the Sydney restaurant scene – a dining experience to remember!

I dined here with friends on Australia Day and enjoyed the experience very much.
Both entrees and mains were superb, the slow cooked lamb was perfect. I live nearby and, in my opinion, this is the best restaurant in the area.

Chose this restaurant for a special anniversary dinner after reading reviews. As we are from interstate didn't know quite to expect. The service was warm and attentive and we wre given a table with a view of the bridge. Our waitress was knowledgeable and obliging when asked for recommendations. Portions are just right. I couldnt finish my main even though i wanted to. The food was exceptional. The pork was delicious and the strawberry souffle is a special treat. Thank you for a lovely night.

You are either picky, or just have no idea if you think Bel Mondo is anything but great. Our night had no faults with food or service, and our party had nothing but complements about the whole experience. Sure the food isn't piled on the plate like a pub, but this is a fine restaurant with food to match. If you want quick fast food, "go elsewhere". If you want to enjoy an evening then this is the place.

Went to bel mondo for Melbourne cup lunch and the food, staff and venue was fabulous, everyone in our group had a great time and would definately return. This is a great place for corporate lunches and christmas parties with stunning views of the harbour bridge and nice bar and balcony area for cocktails.

I have been to bars that serve better food for half the price. Firstly Some staff are nice and very professional, some not so friendly and quite stuck up. The food, well, 3 squares of watermelon (1cm cubed I'm not kidding) on a plate, with 3 medium scallops is not a dish worth $27. I had alot across the table at some of my friends dishes, none of which I had food envy. My main was well cooked (spatch cock) but the lamb I tried from my friends were worst that day old bbq. It was dry, flavourless and a poor cut.
Overall after wines at $91 each with only entry and main between 6. I definitely won't be back nor recommending it to anyone. This is a nice place, hard to find, but definitely needs a new kitchen staff.

We went here with a Travelzoo voucher. We expected it to be not great on that basis, however, we were pleasantly surprised.
Service was very patchy, we were shown to a table and asked if we could have one near the window, however, they were "reserved". They weren't and no one sat there all night. A Huge no no for me. Look after the customers you have rather than the ones you might get. We were then left sitting for a while before being given menus and then another 15 minutes before being our orders were taken. After that it was good.
The cocktails were excellent and the bartender very friendly. The antipasto tasting platter was great. We then ordered the daikon, walnut and goats’ cheese agnolotti, with chargrilled capsicum, zucchini pesto and roasted eggplant. It was a cold dish which would have worked better warm and was quite small.
It's a really nice space and has a great view of the bridge (if you can get a window table).

I like talk back radio. My job has me driving around the city most days and I clearly recalled the sultry tones of the lady from the Bel Mondo advertisement on 2UE when I was informed we would be celebrating a friends 30th birthday there. “You only need one word” she says … “Mmmmmmmm”. It was enticing stuff indeed, and it certainly had me looking forward to dinner last Saturday evening the 24th September. But, and its quite a big But the night ended with 10 of us sitting around the table at 11:35 pm, and not one of us had caught a whiff of the Bel Mondo “Mmmmmmmm” experience.
Let’s start at the beginning and, perhaps, you can get a picture of why I’m still frustrated. The table was booked for 7:30 pm but due to the really bad weather and traffic a few of us were running late. Unfortunately, we weren’t all seated until 7:55 pm with my fiancée and I being the last guests to arrive. Everyone at the table already had menu’s and we wanted to quickly make a decision on the meal so as not to delay others. So we waited to be given our menus and we waited and we waited and then we got served a bread roll and then we waited some more.
Needless to say, they really weren’t off to a flying start when at 8:45 pm we still hadn’t received a menu, when our impatient waiter finally came to take our order. All 10 of us ordered the 2 course a la carte special, 9 having entrees and mains, with 1 person having a main and dessert. It was here, when we were placing our orders, that my fiancée’s, mine, and several other guest’s expectations were really flushed down the toilet though …
The waiter took my order first as I was sitting at the end of the table. He then proceeded to my left, and my fiancée (who is Australian with Indian heritage), to take her order next, but due to the noise in the restaurant she didn’t hear him properly when first spoken too. He then rudely decided to repeat what he said but responded by raising his voice almost to shouting, slowly over-enunciating every single syllable, and turning his head to the side in a patronizing manner.
Now I don’t know whether he thought she was dumb, 5 years old, or that English might be her second language but I have never, ever, ever seen a ruder response. I eat out fairly regularly in Sydney and I can honestly say that had it just been the two of us there we would have upped and left. The response was loud enough, and rude enough, for the 3 people sitting opposite us to stop their conversation and stare in disbelief.
Our entrees were served at about 9:10 pm to mixed reviews, but then waiting for our mains until 10:20 pm, and this after asking the same rude waiter twice where they were, really put the cherry on our “bad experience” cake! By this stage we had been sitting for close enough to 2.5 hours with nothing more than one bread roll, a meager entrée, and a waiter with a bad attitude to digest.
It got worse though, my beef tenderloin which would have been a perfect medium rare when plated, was cold by the time it got to my table. I had 3 or 4 mouthfuls because I was so hungry but then had to leave the rest. In the chef’s defense some of the other’s commented that their meals were well cooked and very tasty.
And then for desserts and after ordering 5 or 6 for the table, guess what, we waited again! They were served at 11:20 pm when the restaurant was all but empty so people quickly had to put them away so we could pay the bill and collect cars from parking stations which closed at midnight. To top it all off when presented with the bill there was a $50 "service fee" added, for what?!
My fiancée raised our disappointment with the senior staff when leaving, only to be told that everything was our fault for arriving late at the start. We both could stomach this if the food was hot, and if it took less than 2.5 hours to get our mains, but to lay the blame at our feet in this instance was outrageous.
Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else instead!

Thank god, there is a new manager, we came here 6 months ago and it was awful, anyway, we arrived there and the barman was full of life, telling us about the purple haze cocktail he created using gin, after that we looked at the time we booked and started to head towards the desk to take our seats as we didn't want to be late, as we know when you are late you get put behind the 8 ball.
Our friendly manager (Now!, after the last one) she was great and so smiley like she loved working there, was great, and the waitress on the table which I think was italian, I'm not sure, was great so friendly and was like a little bee landing on each table like a flower, we had a bottle of atlas which was awesome.
We had 3 courses, food was great and the chicken liver parfait is simply amazing, I had beef for the main and my girlfriend had the spatchcock, and for dessert we had raspberry and poppyseed souffles, which I must say where the best looking ones I have ever seen, cooked and not one crack in it, over all the night was amazing and the price was so good for what you got, I simply came back to this place for the food and now it has stepped it up, I find it strange its not in the good food guide, better than most places.

Went here with another couple, an enjoyable meal. For entrees we had scallops, chicken liver and pork assiette. The chicken liver was divine and pork was good, scallops were good too but I wish I'd gone with chicken liver, it was just on another level.
For mains we had the duck, spatchcock and ocean trout, all reasonable, but I was still thinking about the chicken liver. Dessert was fondant and coffee semifreddo, both good, wines were beautiful, interiors were modern and comfortable, service was excellent.

I really can't believe I can't find this restaurant in some popular guides. Especially as I recently had the displeasure of dining in two so-called 'rated' establishments. Neither of them compared in any way to Bel Mondo in regard to the food, the room, the service or the value. We had a great dinner with friends with delicious food, fine french wine, fab dessert and then a pleasant surprise at the end. If you're looking for a restaurant with true class, fine food and a great outlook, plus value, and head straight to Bel Mondo. It's just a really great restaurant.
