Went on a Saturday night which was busy with no booking - they got us a table inside. Nice pizza love the thin crust = less calories. Friendly & fast service + staff. Highly recommend it. Claire.

Came here on a weeknight, there were 4 of us that dined in. We ordered 3 pizzas and luckily I wasn't hungry walking in, the portion sizes are pretty small. 1 pizza feeds 1 hungry person and so on.

The ambience is really nice, I mean there are wine bottles all over the walls which creates a nice atmosphere so thats a plus for that one, for the rest I can't really speak highly of anything.

The service: Was not great, we asked for a bottle of 2007 red and they came to us opened a bottle of 2008, when we said that it was different the guy who served us said nah its the same, sorry I thought this was a wine bar too where they knew about wine? Yes there is a major difference in the 2007 and the 2008 bottle of red, the obvious one was the cellaring!.

Food: okay, we ordered three pizzas, one supreme, one lamb and one prawn, they were not bad but they were not spectacular, I don't know how good can a pizza really be? All in all not my personal favourite but I think its a good place to come and drink at the bar and have a few nibblies, other than that I would not return for the pizza.

Like many of the other punters here, I am not a fan, but I have friends who are, so they must be doing something right, but I don't seem to see it. As a result of having friends who do enjoy going, I have been a number of times.

I'll start with the positive, the atmosphere is good for casual dining if you like the loud hussle and bussle type of thing (this is not meant to be a sarcastic comment). There is definitely a vibe to the place. Unfortunately, this is about as good as it gets.

The food isn't bad as far as taste goes, although I have to admit that I tend to stick to the same pizzas every time I go, so I can't speak for the entire menu. For the portion sizes and the taste, I think the value for money is pretty bad. I don't think I have ever paid less than $30 per head for a pizza and a non-alcoholic drink. The pizzas really aren't that big.

And finally for what I consider the absolutely worst part of the experience at Beaches is the service. Whilst staff seem friendly enough, they don't seem capable of holding onto an order.

The first time I went there was on a Saturday night. My boyfriend and I were there relatively early, and was one of the first people to be seated. We watched while everyone else around us who arrived after us were served their food before us, and when my boyfriend went get the attention of staff, he was promptly ignored. We sat there for over an hour and a half (all we ordered were a couple of pizzas) and had drank two beers each, when a waitstaff finally noticed that we had not been served our food.

We were then notified that our order had been lost and that our pizzas were just about to go into the oven. We left at that point and it's only because our friends who keep going back that I have been back since and it's not the last time that they have forgotten our order!

It's a shame, because it has the potential to be a really good little casual dining spot. Each visit is a risk.

The place is amazing, just beautiful. The wine list is as long as 5th Ave NYC, the staff are happy and fast and most importantly the pizza's are the best I've eaten and I have travelled the world.

I have sent my overseas guest's and family to this place and they have said the same. Anyone who doesn't give this place top marks must have no taste bud's and should stay at home.

Can't complain about the service because it is basically non existent. This is a joint purely for the mates of the senior staff and staff. Pizzas are average, room noisy and toilets are not really worth describing. Value is poor for lack of service, average food and no ambience.

Won't be going back to this restaurant, the service is absolutely abysmal. My wife and I felt pushed by the staff the whole time to eat our meal and get out. But when we wanted service it was nowhere to be found.

The owner seems to be running it for his mates and 'the locals'. You must have to live in the restaurant to be considered local though as I was born and bred on the Northern Beaches yet I have never been made to feel more uncomfortable in any restaurant. The owner's obsession with this makes me wonder if he is in fact a local or just wants to be.

The pizza was incredibly greasy and they must water down the chilli, not hot at all. The menu sounds fantastic but in reality it's a real let down. The wine selection is actually decent, unfortunately it's hard work to actually have a staff member take a drinks order, let alone deliver a bottle to the table.

In short, if you want a great night out, with great food and a great atmosphere, go somewhere else. There are so many brilliant places to eat in Manly and this is not one of them.

I thought I would give Beaches one last chance to impress, as the previous 2 visits ranged from enjoyable to downright disgraceful. We arrived just before 8 on a weeknight and about 70% of the restaurant was occupied. Thesenior staff was busy talking to a group of diners and the other staff were nowhere to be seen (possibly in the kitchen seeing to orders), so we seated ourselves opposite the bar.

Around 10 minutes passed with no service so we grabbed the owner on his way to the bar. He noticed that we lacked a drinks menu and promptly took one from another table of customers, and then left us. It took us another 15 minutes to place our order as the senior staff was once again chatting to a group of friends and his staff were too busy texting.

Our drinks arrived soon after and our starter pizza around 20 minutes later. We used the arrival of this as an opportunity to order more drinks as we assumed there wouldn't be another. Once again our drinks arrived promptly and our mains around 15 minutes afterwards. The pizzas were nice, but lacked a real depth of flavor. They weren't as oily as last visit but judging by the comments on here they could just be inconsistent.

Once we had finished our pizzas and after waiting for some time for service we decided to leave. At this point the restaurant was about 35% occupied and as he passed by we asked the senior staff for the bill, to which he replied; "hehe, yeah, sure". Then he walked over to another group of mates and started to have a chat. What a gentleman. Oh sorry, did I say gentleman? I meant an arrogant, insensitive excuse for a man.

I whole-heartedly agree with davidfoot's comments, as well as many other posters here. The seating is uncomfortable, the music is too loud to enjoy a conversation, the lighting is dimmed to a level where you can barely read the menu, and most importantly the service is absolutely appalling. Unless you're a friend or a very frequent visitor, don't bother dining at this restaurant. The senior staff seems to harp on about supporting the locals, but he's consistently driving them away.

Beaches Pizza is a stain on the Manly restaurant scene and should do us all a favor and close its doors for good.

What happened? Beaches used to serve great pizzas, not to greasy. Now they are far too cheesy and lacking anything else. I like the new decor but won't bother going back because of the food. Yuck!

I used to go to Beaches quite often when I fancied a simple pizza with BYO in a nice setting. The pizzas have never been anything to write home about - bit burnt - but all pizzerias in Manly are average.

However, I turned up the other week with my BYO bottle. I had to get a key to use the toilet which had no loo roll. Then when I got to my table, I was told that it was no longer BYO.

No signs, no warning at all. Just a middle aged bloke who told me that if I didn't like it I could "go back to Bondi". Well as I live in Manly I didn't go to Bondi, but I won't be going back to Beaches. The owner has gotten greedy and word is already spreading!
