They put pineapple in their burritos! The burritos are big so good value but they have pineapple in them!!! A totally unexpected shock, especially when drunk.
Disappointing! A good nachos has the cheese melted, generous amount of corn chips and good guacamole. This didn't. No excuse for such a poor guacamole, it was pureed and thinned out with sour cream - green and spiceless. Burrito was filling but quite bland.
The burritos are nice and big like in California. However, the shrimp burrito had some odd pineapple taste to it, and they use regular white rice, not even seasoned like it should be. The pork was far too salty and tasted as if it was cooked in chicken stock!
Unfortunately, the tables were sticky and unclean and the workers seemed overwhelmed. Took about half an hour to get a burrito out and they are just making them from serving bowls at the counter! I echo the other comments. When will someone open an authentic Mexican place like in California?
Not too bad overall. The problem with Mexican food in Sydney is that what Sydneysiders have had in terms of Mexican food has been so HORRIBLE, that when something comes along that is close to what it should be, then people don't think it is good. Beach Burrito Co has REAL tortillas (not the Old El Paso junk that most restaurants use), and their fillings were quite good.
For everyone complaining about having too much rice, a burrito is supposed to have rice! And not all burritos are meant to be grilled to a crisp like the 1st review said. This is by no means "authentic" Mexican, but it is good, overpriced but good. Until there are actually Mexicans living in Sydney, expect mediocre Mexican food!
This is a great restaurant. The food is delicious (particularly the prawn burrito) and the owners are always friendly. Service is quick and efficient and they even do a home delivery service. Good luck to you!
Mexican food gone wrong! Being a Texan that has lived in Sydney for 10 years I was excited about going to this cafe today. The strawberry margherita tasted lollie water. The chips & guac were awful. When are Sydneysiders going to learn how to make good guac dip? Why do you guys think you can just mash up an avacado and call that guac dip? So lazy! Guac needs flavor with garlic, onion, lemon juice, tomatoes, coriander, etc. And corn chips are so cheezy. In Texas chips are homeade from flour tortillas. Something I guess I will never have in Sydney.
The fajita burrito was terrible and tasteless. The worst burrito I have ever had! The meat was tasteless and there was more rice & beans stuffed into the burrito than than meat. A burrito is supposed to be cooked on a hotplate until crispy. This joint just gives it to you plain. It was also horrible seeing all the ingredients just sitting who knows how long in fast food containers waiting to be served instead of cooking everything fresh. Similar to a McDonalds. Won't be going back there again. Can't wait for the day when someone will finally know how to make Mexican food in Australia.
Toatally disappointing. I try all the new mexican taquerias and restaurants that start up, hoping to find something close to the multitude of hole in the wall taco stands in Mexico and California, but no-one seems to have done it right yet. I ordered rice and beans as a side and was given boiled white rice, and watery, flavourless black beans.
There was no achiote in the rice as I was told when I took it back questioning the fact that it was indeed " mexican style rice". The tacos were plentiful, but thoroughly bland and the whole experience was underwhelming. Very far from Mexican food. Nice view though....
Very disapponting experience indeed. They had run out of a lot of things (it was on a public holiday...) and there seemed to be a lack of staff with one guy taking all the orders and clearing tables (when asked).
The burritos were all rice and beans and it was like playing 'hide and seek' to find any signs of the meat in both the beef and pork ones. Perhaps they were running short on these ingredients too and should have been just selling rice burritos - at a lesser price ideally!
I don't know what the last two reviews are talking about. I just had lunch at the Beach Burrito Co at bondi and the food was amazing. The fish tacos were great (really fresh) and the mango salsa was to die for. Add a cold beer and the experience was very pleasant.
