I have been going here for years but it has changed for the worse since they redecorated some years ago. Still some of the best bbq, pork tenderloin and duck are moist and the roast pork or suckling pig very good. However, I get takeaway at the street window as the sitting in is not worth it. Many years ago they made great spicy salt squid but last time it was bland and a poor cut. Still they have some unusual dishes and it still worth a go for the experience.

This place has long been renowned for good, well-priced Chinese food with fast service. I've eaten here many times over the years, but tonight I've decided I'm unlikely to return. The service is still fast, but the food is at best average, and terribly overpriced. The facilities are almost as clean as the outhouses of some restaurants I visited in semi-developed towns of rural China, and one can only wonder how well they clean the cooking pots which they store outside on the roof.

Salt and pepper squid, crispy skin pork, steamed rice, one local beer and one fried ice cream came to $72. Of course the service was fast and the portions generous, but I prefer a better balance of quality with quantity.

Another Sydney classic, come after midnight and share a table with cab drivers or chefs from the best restaurants in Sydney. Service and decor dreadful, but the food is worth it. Great BBQ pork and peking duck.

By the way, what do you people expect if you order the banquet menu? Order what you like and maybe you won't have leftover food and if she wants a table cloth, tell her she's dreaming.

If you come here you should only get the duck and rice with greens. Anything else is overpriced. They are known for their duck and rice. Service is really quick (especially if you get the duck and rice) and typically Asian, which is abrupt, quick and unfriendly. I will only come here when I want duck and I'm in a rush.

Don't bother with this place. Awful food and even worse service. I've been here many times, but I'm just sick of it. Really pricey too.

Amazing peking duck. Was recommended and thoroughly enjoyed. The hoi sin was sensational and dish (shared between 2) was very filling. Restaurant had non-existent service and a filthy appearance but very tasty food. Close your eyes and enjoy!

The most over rated, over priced attempt at Chinese food I have ever eaten. I was in a group of 20 and we ordered the Banquet menu B, at $44 per person I was thinking the food must be half decent. How wrong I was.

Chewy vegetables, chewy everything for that matter, most of the dishes were smothered in some sort of smokey bbq sauce, too overpowering to comprehend.
Terrible service was appalling, dirty dishes stacked up on the table as the night went on. Never have I seen so much food left over at the end of the night.

After complaining on how disappointed we were with the meal we were referred to the senior staff who was rude and argumentative. I hope that people don't judge chinese food after visiting this poor excuse for a restaurant. I have visited my fair share of bad restaurants in my time but this one takes the cake, diner beware!

This used to be a good cheap city restaurant but no longer. Food was very ordinary, expensive and the service at best average (at least that has not changed). I won't be back.

I have been so many times in large groups. Always been good. But this was the last time. I think this time with my girlfriend, and it was just the two of us they thought we were tourists with her English accent and tricked us into paying way over the menu price. I was not in the mood to argue. I think places like that should be far clearer on their pricing, their English skills and their bills. You can never work out on a bill what you are paying for, its just scribble. Oh well, they are popular, I am sure they won't miss me. But amazing how one bad experience can turn me away from many good ones!

I normally love BBQ places, but I must say I was extremely disappointed with BBQ King. The food was very average and the price is extremely expensive for what you get. The decor is getting old and the place really needs to be updated. There are many other places to eat around Chinatown, so I definitely will not be coming back.
