I've eaten here many times for dinner, breakfast and lunch. It's always been hard to choose what to eat as everything on the menu sounds great, and not just the same standard things you get in a lot of places.
The food has always been delicious, fresh and well presented. The ingredients seem to be high quality and the dishes are creative without being weird, a perfect mix of gourmet vs comfort. I've enjoyed the lighter options when trying to be healthy, in fact my BF keeps getting food envy!
The service has been efficient, although the staff could exude a little more warmth. My only issues are with the comfort of the restaurant as I've found it a bit cold on occasion and the chairs a little uncomfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My girlfriend lives around the corner and kept raving about the food but I'm a darlo girl myself so never stray far from the nest... I'm glad she finally convinced me. Firstly, the food was delicious, I ordered a breakfast bruschetta and it was amazing. The fetta had been soaked in some olive oil garlic combo so blew my mind and the avo was perfecto. Secondly, The outdoor seating was under a beautiful big tree, could have been straight out of a French film with fairy lights hanging from the branches.Thirdly, who doesn't like to be served by two cute boys, Daniel and Mark... Turns out their the owners. I will certainly be coming back for the food and for Daniels number...

Stayed two nights at the Vibe Rushcutters Bay last Friday and Saturday night. Bay 88 is a stone throw away and I would highly recommend a visit there for breakfast. The food was excellent. We used a voucher deal on the Saturday morning and went there again on the Sunday morning because the food was so nice. It was busy both mornings obviously patronised by local residents. If staying at the Vibe Hotel this is a great alternative for breakfast and I imagine would be nice for lunch and dinner as well.

Bit expensive even by Double Bay standards. Can't fault the food though. They do great poached eggs. Decent coffee. The outdoors furniture is a bit worse for wear though. Service was basic unless you've been identified as a regular.

Went for a early Friday night dinner 6.30 place was empty waitresses getting changed in the back corner, a bit weird. Ordered a starter wasn't too bad and soft drinks well priced for $3.50 each. Entree crispy pork belly with scalllops found pork a dry but well presented. For the mains looking at the specials board wanted the slow cooked Waygu short rib but was at out of stock on early Friday night? Not very well prepared for the weekend. So went with the grain feed fillet and lamb shoulder with polenta.
Mains arrived in decent time two steaks ordered one medium one medium rare couldn't tell the difference and the lamb shoulder stew tasted like a chunky campbells soup. My steak I was well proportion however two veggies potatoes and carrot only two small of each. Also ordered a side salad of pear and walnut was the best part of the meal. Although the walnuts would be better chopped as not to get a mouth full.
The kids meal chicken and mashed potatoes was perfectly cooked and was just what we needed for our 3yr old. The bill came to $150 I thought for the atmosphere and area food this money can be spent better else where IMO. It is hard to find and on a tiny bend the tables are right on top of each other I struggled to make it to the bathroom which was clean but needed some extra touches.
For those using the spreets vouchers $50 for $25 be aware you need two people per voucher so 3 people 1 voucher only. The staff were all ver helpful and couldn't ask them for anything more. For the price with the vouchers I would eat here again if it was around the corner but not for full price.

Had a fantastic meal at Bay 88 last night. We had the Bouillabaisse which was on special. Just beautiful. Generous, balanced, hearty yet delicate all at once. I ate here a few weeks ago and had a very average meal. I was told they had a new head chef. The menu looks so much more appealing, I could have ordered anything off it. We will be back for sure.

I went to Bays 88 in december last year and its one of my local favourite restaurants. The good thing about this little place is the menu. They change the menu in a regular basis as they use seasonal ingredients. Last time I was there I had seared scallops with a sea weed salad which was delicious. My gf who ain't a big fan of sea food had a scallop and couldn't resist to eat one more.
For main I had the king fish and my gf had the lamb pie. The king fish was a little dry but the flavour of the whole dish was delicious. For dessert I had the choco coated figs with pistachio crust and raspberry coulis and my gf had the choco mousse which was standout. Well done team Bay 88. Keep up the good stuff.

Very average food. I didn't realise poached eggs could seem so bland. It's always annoying when there's only two veggie things on the menu, but there's no chance at all of swopping the bacon for even mushrooms as the kitchen staff is far too busy, in an empty restaurant. Of course, I'll still pay the same price when I can't eat a third of the dish. It's not that hard surely to offer something that is listed on the menu at other points. Service was ambivalent at best, of course I'm happy to get my own water and sauces. Won't be back.

The breakfast menu here is really good, and original, caters well for vegetarians and those with a big appetite. The first couple of times I ate here every dish was served cold, however now it has improved a lot. The service is wonderful and the coffee is probably the best in the Eastern suburbs. I love the breakfast borrito and the veg bruchetta. It is not really a good ambiance though, right near the busy road but the great food and service make up for it!

After reading the last two reviews we thought we would give this place a try.
I was concerned when I booked a table on a Saturday night and was told on the phone that a booking wasn't necessary!
The descriptions of the food sound delicious and when they appeared on the table looked the part. The problem is that the food was bland, very bland. We had the salmon, which was the special on the night, and the duck breast.
The duck was described as a breast but turned out to be a leg that was so tough I could barely eat it. The small amount of breast meat that was there was tasty though. As for the salmon, it had no flavour what so ever.
We decided to have some dips as a starter which again was disappointing. Three small bowls contain various dips but it came with toast! Very boring and they should have supplied crackers or something.
This might sound a bit harsh but considering the prices I think the food was very average. Presentation was excellent although the food being served up on a wooden chopping board was a bit strange. I won't be going back in a hurry.
