This place is great to eat at before a night out in the city. Food is generally enjoyable and the portions are decent, but the quality is not the best. Service is pretty poor, but on a busy night I can imagine it would be fairly hard to keep up with so many tables etc... Overall, Bavarian Bier is a fun night out with friends but not the kind of place you would go to for a romantic dinner.
This place is not bad, I have been a few times. One time was with a large group and they seemed to handle it quite well. The service can sometimes be a bit slow but the staff are very polite. I have enjoyed the food every time I've eaten there, although the menu isn't particularly daring.
Consider this place for a rowdy night out. The beers are terrific and the staff are very friendly. The food can be a bit hit and miss but it's unlikely you'll be going there for that reason.
Worse place for large bookings they force you to pay a deposit but then the bill comes they take the money out of the bill WHY?? They wouldn't let me take my deposit back they said it was too late they already deducted it from the original bill. Double standards as well my friend had the same booking a month later same amount of people but didn't require a deposit??? How does that work? To be honest they need to look at how to manage this place for bookings shocking!
I booked a party of 15 with drinks for 30 people on a saturday night. What a flawless night! Trust me and order a round of schnapps for the table and watch them come out with cow bells. You will feel so special! our bartender looked like Russel Crowe, I would definitely go back, what a fantastic night, so reasonably priced and no hassel.
Can't fault the great beer selection, but I ordered a steak here and it was terrible. I probably should have taken the warning signal when the bargirl didn't know what blue meant, but I took rare. It came out medium rare and had a bad metallic taste. I was very disappointed for the price.
There is a $15 deal for a giant pork schnitzel and a shot meal. The beers are great, with mango juice plus beer, very tasty. Overall, I feel it is noisier than other bars.
We recently dined at the York St cafe. My husband was impressed with the beer but the food was disappointing. We ordered the Flammenbrot for entree, the menu description was nothing like we got. The pastry base was so hard you couldn't cut it with a knife, there was hardly any cheese on it and the caramelised onions weren't caramelised at all!
I ordered the mixed meat platter for main which was good except the crackling on the pork belly was soft. My husband ordered the mixed sausages which out of around 6, 3 were chargrilled as described on the menu and the rest were boiled. It was a bit noisy although the meals were large and the service was excellent, the waiter/waitresses were all friendly and eager to please.
German Food is not my forte therefore may be slightly biased with the food. I enjoyed the ambience because it was like a real German Hall where it's noisy and crazy. It was set up similar to how it is in Germany.
The pork was very fattening. If you just want to give it a try, I'd say go for the mixed platter so you get a taste of the different types of meat. The platter should be shared as an entree which was around $24 for those big eaters out there.
