I was put off by the comments on here and then one night we just walked by and decided to have dinner. I must say I really did like it. The Schnitzel was nice and succulent (and it was massive) and my wife had the Zurich veal, which she really liked. Beers were very good. It's not the cheapest, but it is worth it.

Excellent Bavarian food with friendly Service to come with the prestigious location, a little pricey but that shouldn't be a surprise considering the waterfront location. I'll be back!

Great Dining Experience here. I must commend your team that can work in such a busy environment while still give attentive service. The food was delicious, the view magnificent, and the staff friendly and welcoming. Definitely going back would recommend. Thank you.

My sons love a trip to the Bavarian at Manly for Sunday lunch and it's become a bit of a family favourite. The staff are always really friendly, the views are beautiful and the schnitzels more than satisfy my two growing boys. If you want somewhere to relax with a beer and a hearty feed, this is a great waterfront option.

I made a booking for 7 people and then almost cancelled after reading the recent reviews. I'm so glad I didn't we had a lovely night. The food was good and the service couldn't be faulted. It is a busy, noisy venue so if you want a quiet meal this is not the place. We were celebrating my son's 21st so it worked out well for us. Pretty expensive but an enjoyable night all round.

This place was horrible! The service was the worst I've ever had. We had to repeatedly ask for our coffees and teas (seriously how hard can it be to get that right). Then they brought only 1 meal to the table. That person had finished their meal and we still hadn't gotten ours. We were a big table (10 of us) but the place was quiet so we don't know why the food was so slow. We had to ask a few times where our food was and had to threaten the manager that we would leave before any action was taken.

When the food did arrive, the vegetarian breakfast has bacon bits in it. Some of the food was burnt because they clearly missed the order and was trying to make it up. Even though it was bad, I have to admit the manager tried her best to fix the situation. But it really should never come to that. Do yourself a favour and never go there!

Hideous food, tuna nicoise salad was disgusting and so was the burger, the meat patty was burnt and the burger bun seemed to be a week old or so, also slow. Such a great location, could be serving great food. The place is famous for its beers so make sure you order when you are already drunk and can't taste anything otherwise you will get disappointed, will not be coming back for food.

I couldn't have been more disappointed in my trip to the Bavarian Bier Cafe. The service was awful. While the staff were friendly, there was so few of them that they were run off their feet. The meals were cold and variable in quality.

The steak was meant to be medium rare, it came out well done and was sitting on a bed of mash swimming in oil. After waiting so long for the food to arrive, I was famished and just ate it! The prawn pasta came out with only 2 unpeeled prawns. 2? seriously?
The pork belly crackling was thin and chewy,, not what you want when it's meant to crackle! This place is only good for a beer by the water - even then there are cheaper places around. For the fine dinning prices you pay, the food here really sucked, the service was lacking and it was way too expensive... we won't be back.

My girlfriend and I visited here yesterday after doing the Spit bridge to Manly walk/run. 2 words...very disappointing. We are far from picky eaters and I have never felt the need to give a bad review before, however, this place really isn't up to scratch.

Ok the staff were nice and the location is good, that being said there are many places around Sydney that have nice harbour views. The downside, the food and the price. I have a feeling that these guys are working on the fact that they are located on the wharf and, therefore, mainly get the tourist traffic, you would be a very stupid local to go here more than once.

So, about the food. It was a warm day and for lunch we both didn't really feel like a roast pork knuckle, schnitzel or sausage (probably our first mistake going to a Bavarian Bier Cafe). That being said the Kitchen should be ashamed at what they churned out. I ordered the barramundi fillet and my girlfriend ordered the chicked, avocado and mango salad. The Barramundi Fillet is $33 and the Salad $20.

Prices don't really bother me much if it's enjoyable. What you get... A 5cm x 12cm very dry piece of cardboard flavoured fried fish on a handful of beans mixed with chopped tomato..to be honest I enjoyed the beans and tomato more..no they weren't amazing either. For the chicken avocado salad my girlfriend received four pieces of chicken 0.5cm thick by 4cm across (we didn't actually find any avocado) on a bed of rocket, which once again was pretty tasteless.

All in all you could go next door to Nandos and get a tastier meal and sit 3ft away and get the same view (Coming from a person who only eats take away as the last resort). Hindsight...should have just gone to the pub next door.
