Overview of Bathers' Pavilion Cafe

Sit down on the comfy couches, sit side by side at one of the oval tables at the wide, wide windows, crowd cosily with friends into one of the booths and gaze out through the heads. A ferry floats past, the seagull convention perch atop the shark net and waves lap gently. The Cafe's great food and drink choices for all occasions from breakfast to cocktails are equally enjoyable as its surroundings.

Went there yesterday for lunch. Had the fish and chips and the chips were soggy and the fish overcooked and rubbery. The only saving grace for my terrible experience was the nice location. Other than that, definitely do Not recommend.

Great location on the foreshore. We were there on a weekday at lunchtime. One of us had the harpuka on risotto and the other had a Caesar salad. Both were fine. Service was prompt and efficient. Prices reflect the location, so no bargains here!

Bather's Pavilion Cafe is in a great location, overlooking Edwards Beach, and is always busy. We've eaten there regularly over the last few years and service is generally good but the quality of the food has been on a downward trend in the last year or so to the point that it's not somewhere we would consider now.

It's not like the menu in the cafe is full of complicated dishes so it mainly seems to be a lack of care possibly caused by simply squeezing in too many tables such that the kitchen staff can't cope with the demand at peak times.

The problems are often simple things like food being delivered undercooked (the Bather's Chips, which used to be delicious but increasingly seems to suffer from somehow being burnt on the outside whilst under-cooked on the inside) or poorly seasoned or simply not what was ordered. Easy to fix but, since a lot of customers are visitors to Sydney and unlikely to return, there seems to be little desire to do so.

Went there on Sunday morning, place was bustling, location is amazing, can't be closer to the beach. After a 10 minutes wait we were seated and within minutes orders were taken. My pancakes were beautiful, a large serving with a lot of blueberries, my partner got the big breakfast which wasn't amazing, saw some plates with different things coming through and they were looking a lot more inviting, bad choice probably, and a bit poor of bacon, one miserable slice.

I had a the Balmoral drink with lime and orange juice and egg, definitely something to try once. Nice place but not my first choice for my breakfast fix.

I was so disappointed with the Bather's Pavilion. I was in Sydney for a few days whilst my husband went to Auckland on business. The one morning we get together before flying home to the UK we spend getting to Balmoral to enjoy breakfast at this much hyped restaurant. The attitude as soon as we walked in was cold and unhelpful. It is not some cheap cafe and I would, therefore, expect better attitude, better service, better servings and quite frankly better food.

If I owned the establishment my staff would be a lot better than the bland, mannerless bunch that were on duty the morning we went for breakfast, such a shame after I had enjoyed so many fabulous restaurants with fantastic service during my time here in Sydney.

This is a great local hangout that suits Mosman and Balmoral well. The food is well prepared with high quality ingredients, and while the servings are only moderate sized it is fine for a non-event dinner when you are not after something overly heavy.

The porkman's piglet had a delicious steak, cooked a tad over rare with nice veges. It's good to see a restaurant putting effort into offering healthy and tasty meals for kids although you do pay for it $18, they could prob include ice cream for the price. Service is hectic but competent, they are used to looking after kids.

We made the mistake of eating in their fine dining restaurant. We started at 12.30 and it took them two and three quarter hours to serve us three courses plus coffee. The table service was great, and so was the ambiance, but nothing else was. Two other groups started after us and finished well before us. After waiting over forty-five minutes for the mains they suddenly appeared after I complained. Then they made us wait another twenty-five minutes for dessert. The mains were miniscile, which explained the strong hints at ordering multiple side dishes. Given the high price of the mains these should have been included. I had the vegetarian rissito, which was small and nothing exciting. Others with me appeared to enjoy their venison and other meat dishes and made a determined effort to stretch out the experience with tiny mouthfuls. For what we got the meal was well overpriced, and so was the poor service. I would never go back. Well, perhaps to the cafe, but never to the restaurant. It left me with a strong feeling of having been ripped off.

Have been to Bathers Cafe for both breakfast and lunch and walk past a couple of days per week. The location is really stunning - even better than Public Dining. The cafe is always busy but the restaurant rarely has more than a table or two.

Perfect place to sit and watch the goings on of the esplanade and harbour. For a 'cafe' the menu and quality of food is seriously overpriced however it is tasty and presentation is great.

Good selection on the kids menu but again overpriced. Staff are friendly but there seems to be a lack of direction both times I have been there. Sunday breakfast is extraordinary with a queue of up to thirty people each week!

Lovely position but a little disappointed in food and value. I love the ambience and the general feel but food let it down. Fish not the freshest and desserts pre done, bread rolls looked yummy but not warm. Will be a while before return to this cafe.

Located on Balmorah Beach, this is the perfect place to go to for the view of the water, if you don't want anything fancy foodwise, and just want a comfortable, casual and relaxing atmosphere to chat or read. They have a good mixture of dishes for a cafe menu and are very family friendly.

For the amount of traffic they get, the service could be better. Staff seem to be very casual.
