We ate here yesterday for dinner and the service was horrible. Firstly we ordered then waited while people who had arrived before us received their meat and started cooking while we just sat there. Then we were told the guy we ordered from had forgotten our order. We had to ask for water and plates and half the staff couldn't speak English so they had to call multiple people over when we wanted something.
Finally, when we were cooking we asked for the heat to be turned up because the grill was getting cold then they told us that there was an electrical problem that was being fixed so we couldn't eat or keep cooking our food. Basically we sat there for a good 10 minutes hungrily watching and waiting. The cuts of pork were not the best but the beef tenderloin was ok.
Finally, we got to eat our food (hopefully it was cooked) and we left without so much as an apology. There's better Korean BBQ at Parra and their service is much better.

My review for this restaurant would be solely based on their bbq meats as this is the reason I've come here time and time again. Their marinade is excellent, and has a slight sweetness to it. If you go for the dishes marked 'best' then this usually doesn't disappoint. Their pork ribs are probably a firm favorite, and then the chicken, ox tongue is always good for a nice contrast in texture. I love charring the meats, then wrapping it with lettuce, garlic, their different type of sauces they provide and raw carrots.
Its a fun way to eat, costs can add up but I usually end up paying about $30pp. The place looks sort of mod industrial, the staff is young and sometimes you may need to get their attention but nothing worth fussing about. Def recommend.

Food fantastic! most authentic korean BBQ place ive been to in sydney and I've been to a lot. Note: it will be easier to order things if u have someone who knows a little korean ;). Other than that, the food is sensational. All u can eat Kimchi. Yum yum.

My experience at Bassim was great! It was my first time going to korean barbeque and the staff were so friendly with helping us choose our meals. We almost ordered 4 bowls of cold noodles when the waitress advised us that we should just order 2. When it arrived, we were glad she told us! They definitely do not skimp on anything, however, it was a bit too salty for my liking.
We basically ordered all the ones marked 'best' and they definitely were. Very deliciously marinated and the style of barbeque was unique. Staff were very prompt in helping us when we pressed the button for service. Will definitely be coming back!

Very busy place even on a tuesday night. The food here is great. I would recommend sticking to the items on the menu marked "best" as they really are tasty. Avoid the unmarinated meats, they are very lacking in flavour. My favourite was the spicy prawns: try them!
Unfortunately, service was nowhere near the standard of the food. I understand they are busy it does not call for rudeness. Most of the waiters were okay but one male in particular was very rude and abrupt. He did not warn us when bringing the first pot of coals, coming dangerously close to burning one of my family members, and when asked to clear the bbq grill he simply places one on top of the current one, causing the grills to rest uneasily.
I would return for the food definitely and fingers crossed not have to deal with the same waiter.

I really like this Korean BBQ. The meat is marinated very nicely and service is ok, although they should really get staff that actually understand English. Despite the language barrier, I would recommend this place.

One of the best cold noodle salad I had, tasty. The meet was fresh and marination is excellent, they should work a bit more on the decoration and ambience, a bit boring, I will go there again for the nice food.

After failing to find this place the first time, we tried again last week. We struggled to find parking on the streets but luckily stumbled across the mall parking which is free for the first few hours. The restaurant is situated in a corner on a block of many other Korean restaurants. Upon entry our party of four was greeted by a friendly waitress who showed us to a table by the window. Be careful of the small step as you descend into the restaurant and towards your table.
We ordered scotch fillet, ribs off the bone, chicken and a cold noodle to share. The waitress was very prompt in bringing us four small bowls and plates. The table became rather crowded with the side dishes and sauces. The side dishes are rather disappointing consisting of kimchi, pickled radishes and pickled onions. I would have liked to have some mung bean jelly or some potatoes rather than 3 plates of pickled dishes.
The grill set up with a hole in the table containing hot coal and a rack on top. There is a pipe on top of the rack that is supposed to take away the smoke but two of us had our faces covered with grease at the end of the meal. The restaurant is very smoky and the many pipes in the ceiling to take away the smoke do not seem to be as effective as the set up appears.
Unlike some of the other Korean BBQ places, the meat at this place is thoroughly marinated. The chicken had a slight sweet flavour and the ribs were really tasty. I wrapped the scotch fillet in the lettuce leafs provided, along with some shredded carrots and added a bit of the three chili sauces provided. The ribs were definitely the favourite meat of the night.
The cold noodle was really refreshing with its chewy soba noodles and sweet vinegary soup base. The dinner for four totalled at $80 and I thought it was quite reasonable. The portion sizes are small and allowed us to try different types of meats.
Definitely will revisit again in winter as I think this style of dining is more suited to that season.

I have'nt seen before the charcoal in a pot and a grill over it, on the table. Well not the way they do it here. The food was good, especially the pork ribs. The side dishes were unlimited and quickly replaced when they were empty, most of the time without even asking.
Ambience: there is an outdoor area but inside you see all the vents hanging down but at least the seating space was reasonable. Service: There is a button you can call for service, and the staff came quickly once pressed. The side dishes were replaced most of the time without being asked. Looking at the other scores I have seen on this website, I was surprised they rated it lowly, I did go a friday night also, maybe I had a good night.
Value: the portions of meat was smaller than expected. When me and my friend left, there was still people waiting outside, definitely one of the more popular places in Strathfield.

Ok, it was lunchtime and we were prepared to take a step into the unknown. Our adventure was made complete by the staff who provided no clues at all as none of us were Korean and had no idea as to what we were supposed to do. Winged it by watching other patrons. If you think eating out is not meant to be that hard, go somewhere else. Food was ok once we worked that bit out.
