I've had lunch here twice and enjoyed it very much both times. The halloumi salad was delicious for a light healthy lunch. All the other meals looked good too. Nice wine list reasonably priced - A generous sized glass of white for $8. I'll be back.

Have frequented Bar Cupola over the years. The formula is well honed. Quality food at affordable prices in a relaxed and attractive setting in the centre of Sydney. Whereas many cafes and restaurants turnover staff frequently, it's clear there is a happy team here with familiar faces serving patrons and familiar patrons returning. I often order the Nicoise salad. My fellow patrons order the Asian fares. Always a great feed and atmosphere. Keep it happening. Keep up the good work.

Had a very pleasant lunch here. We had the mini fillet steaks and the barramundi - the steak being juicier than expected, and the barra a treat.

The big surprise here was that it's a really lovely ambience, considering you're in the foyer of an office block. Comfy chairs are always a winner, and the seating area has a pleasant hum of conversation.

Service is very efficient, and the waiters are helpful explaining dishes and what's available.

Good quality food and friendly service. Best sandwiches in CBD. Chicken tenderlion sandwich with turkish bread is top quality. I am a regular visitor to this place for great coffee and food. Highly recommended.

I meet a friend here for lunch sometimes. We go to the bar off Pitt St and you can have a reasonable toasted sandwich and a glass of wine for about $8. You can always get a table and its not too noisy (maybe except when we're there talking up a storm).

I work in Angel Place and Bar Cupola is my 'local'. Some of the negative comments on this site are unwarranted. Bar Cupola offers absolutely great quality food, good portion sizes with reasonable prices. I challenge anyone to find a comparative restaurant/cafe that is better than Bar Cupola. And yeah, let's not forget the staff, Beng and his team are a great bunch of people, who do an outstanding job, day in, day out. Eat here, you'll love it and end up coming back time and again.

I don't know why this place doesn't score better! Yes the menu has been the same as long as I've been going there (2+ yrs), but they do things well so why change. The chicken curry is good, as is the fish and the service is always excellent. Its a good place to bring clients for coffee or for lunch.

If you have an Entertainment book, its also in there so you get a discount, but even without the discount the prices are fine for what you get.

Question: What do you do when confronted with the task of selecting a location for a work lunch where the budget is unable to stretch to cover the $30-40+ lunches of Sydney CBD restaurants and going to the local food court just says “cheap”? Asian or any other exotic eatery choices are also ruled out as the need to placate the mainstream food palate is a necessary consideration.

Answer: Bar cupola is a viable option. Bar cupola provides mid-range priced lunches ($20) in a pleasant and civilised locale. Rather than battling the lunch time stampede of the CBD, you can relax in the comfortable and attractive setting of the café. The café itself is located within the foyer of Angel Place, with its tables stretching length ways alongside one of the edges of the building.

I selected the tuna nicoise salad. It was of a generous size and well constructed. Happily, its taste was very good. The only thing more deflating than battling the crowds at the local food court is paying a premium to go to a restaurant to avoid the crowds and then discovering the food at the restaurant is imperceptible to that of the local food court! This comment is certainly not applicable to Bar Cupola but I just something I wanted to ventilate.

By all accounts, my colleagues were also satisfied with the quality and quantity of their dishes which included pasta dishes, fish and chips and sandwiches (as I mentioned, many mainstream options are available here!). In summation, Bar Cupola provides a great solution for those seeking a mid-priced lunch, in a calm and appealing setting that is a cut above the norm in taste. Although the menu options can’t ever be accused of breaking new culinary frontiers, sometimes the good old standard lunch fare is just what fits the bill.

I note that I did not personally pay for the experience. However, I did consider it to be of good value and would return if placed in another such tricky lunch time dilemma.

Tasty takeaway lunches, reasonably priced. Chicken wonton soup was refreshing with a hint of chilli and sesame oil and topped with baby spinach. This cafe also offers lovely sweets such as friands and melting moments.
