Visited on a Wednesday night about 9.30pm so it was fairly quiet with a few tables available. The space is beautiful but is completely let down by incredibly rude wait staff. The waiter that served us was rude from start to end, making the 3 of us feel as though we were an inconvenience to her night. Wine list is good but the bar menu was surprisingly boring. I was expecting a lot more from this place that has received such glowing reviews.
The popularity of this place is marked by the crowds of well dressed men and women crowding the entrance come 5 pm most weekdays. Fortunately, the thirsty masses the Bambini wine room doesn't disappoint. With around 20 wines by the glass the waiters will happily suggest a complimentary snack to enjoy under one of the many chandeliers.
This place does get busy thursday and friday nights so get there early to grab a table or pop by after dinner for a quiet tipple with friends...
Great wine selection, lots of European wines. Good ambience, I don't mind a table outside on Elizabeth Street facing the park on a quiet night either
The complimentary platter of bread sticks, olives and nuts is a great touch and perfect with the wine.
The other food items are great also, the ones I go back for are the pate, and the cheese platter. One of the best cheese platters in Sydney, well the cheeses served tend to be stronger not mild cheese and it comes with quince paste and muscatels which I find essential for cheese platters
The dips are nice, the oysters are fresh and the fries with aioli come crisp and freshly cooked as well. Serving size of the food is good. Will definitely be coming back regularly.
Lovely intimate wine bar which I love visiting during the week, a great selection of mostly European wines (something other Sydney bars lack), complimentary snack plate of nuts and olives is a lovely touch, especially during those times when you're not really hungry.
Been here a couple of times and had good service each time. The atmosphere is cosy and suits a mid week drink during winter and there is outdoor seating which will be great for summer. The complimentary platter of mini bread sticks, olives and peanuts is a nice touch.
One of my favourite drinking places for the ambience, good wine list, and location. Expect quality wines on the menu, and you get a tasting plate of olives, pretzel sticks and houmous. And if you get hungry, make a reservation for a table next door in the restaurant whilst you continue with pre-dinner drinks. What a perfect throwback to the ordinary pub on a Friday night after work!
Have been here a few times and have noticed the service getting ruder. Last time was too much. Having ordered some food, an extra dish arrived which we pointed out to the waiter. He said we could have it free of charge and then added it to our bill. The bill also included 3 bottles of red instead of 3 glasses making it about $150 over. Trying to get the dish we never ordered and the 3 bottles converted to glasses was made to seem like our fault. A great building with good food and wine should not be run by people who make service seem like an effort.
This is such a fabulous place to meet someone for drinks in the city. How I wish there were more places like this in Sydney. Great drinks list although it is very hard to read due to the dim light and my ageing eyes (forgot my glasses as usual too). Then you can move to the Bambini Trust Cafe to eat.
I went here for the first time last Friday and stayed for about 2 hours. It was quiet when we arrived and packed when we left. We had really nice comfy seats and got a good view of what was going on which made it fun. We ordered different wine by the glass and I found the list comprehensive and reasonably priced. The service was professional and I was pleased to receive the complimentary selection of nuts, breadsticks and delicious olives. I really liked the decor and buzzy vibe of the place so would definitely go back again.
