I ordered to takeaway on a Thursday night. It was 40 minutes before I left with only two dishes, in saying this there was only one table being occupied. Not sure what was going on. Anyway, the food was very, very average! I ordered Salt and Pepper squid and fried rice. Not happy. Crap batter and the squid was really hard.
Way way overpriced.
Balmain Star is perfect for those nights you don't feel like cooking. Uses fresh local ingredients, no MSG and nice garnishes. The menu is diverse but their Crispy Skin Chicken with their special sauce is excellent. The servings are large and the meat tender. Their takeaway is fast and the service efficient, they will always remember your name.
We really like Balmain Star. For yum cha it is not like chinatown but it can work very well especially with kids. Love the salt and pepper tofu. For dinner the food is so fresh and not greasy - esp the eggplant/pork hotpot, and any duck dish.
Food was ok and service fine for a local Chinese. Give Yum Cha (lunch) a miss. ordering dim sims off a menu is simply not the same as having a ladies clanking a hot cart past and shouting her wares at you.
This used to be a great restaurant. Now it's a really average one. The last 2 times I have eaten here (mainly due to the terrace above the street), I woke up with a cracking head-ache the next day. I suspect lots of MSG is used in some dishes. The peking Duck is still good - but the service is crap.
This used to be a great restaurant. It is now an average restaurant. Slow service with the focus on the takeaway side of the business. The steamed dim sim I had recently were inedible.
