Had the Lamb for main. Asked for medium, was very rare and very fatty. We also had the duck which was extremely fatty. Worst duck we have ever had. It looked as though other people around us weren't happy with their meals either. Service and ambience was excellent. Timing of the meal was excellent. The chef needs to get his act together. Not sure we would go back. The restaurant has the potential to be excellent, however the food is letting them down. Dessert was excellent.

My name is Alice and I have been living in balmain for over 20 years can I say how wonderful it was to see some amazing flavoured oils and infusions to the new dishes at balmain bug. I never write about reviews but I just had to write about the new balmain bug, The lemon oil and the blood orange balsamic was served with warm crusty rosemary bread when we arrived.

I felt ever so special and it was free amazing offer when u arrive and amazing taste when I asked about the oils the Kind older waiter told me that I could buy them so I bought both oils when we finished. He also told us that the chef is bringing out a new white truffle oil for christmas. Thank u for a wonderful evening and the fun flavours, we will be back very soon. Thank u.

I have lived in the area for many years and have seen the restaurant go from being a place that people travel from all over Sydney to a place that is usually empty most days of the week (except for those taking advantage of the special vouchers). The cod was overcooked, small portion and sickly sweet all for $32. Come on guys get it right.

We had dinner last Saturday night for 4 people, and the experience was wonderful. The meals were thoroughly enjoyable and the service could not be faulted. I had an inquiry before we got there and it was sorted most efficiently on the phone. I hope the new owners do well, they deserve to.

Under new ownership (10 weeks ago). We asked because the food (and menu choice) had gone downhill. Previously, the food and service was always magnificent. Tonight, the oysters came with overly sweet sickening sauces. The same chemical tasting "lemon infused oil" that overpowered the fresh oysters also came with the bread.

The bread also came with an excessively sweet lime balsamic vinegar, which also swamped the main of blue eyed cod. The cod was over cooked. Even the sidedish of steamed snow peas was overbooked (giving it a bitter taste). How hard is it to steam snow peas?! Apparently the kitchen staff sells these dreadful sauces! I suspect aliens abducted his taste buds. When we 1st queried the sweet sauce, the kitchen staff ace out if the kitchen and just stood and glared at us. Such A shame that a previously wonderful restaurant has stooped to such lows.
