The mezze plate was lovely however the pasta meals were not so appealing. The Fettuccine alla Boscaiola had negligible amounts of bacon and mushrooms and at $20 I'd expect a little more. The fish in the Fettuccine Allo Scoglio was a pretty low quality and the dish was not very rich in flavour.
My sticky date pudding was lovely but tasted more like ginger than date. We were sitting outside and there was a table next to us with heavy smokers. Not a very appealing way to enjoy a meal.
Staff are very friendly, and exotic (well seasoned travellers as noted by their accents). Cocktails are well made and the atmosphere is very relaxing with a good view of the harbor. Well worth a try!
The pizzas and the 4 formagi gnocchi are our favourite meals and don't forget to finish off with the nutella pizza. A bit pricey if you are taking all the family.
I have been going to this restaurant every 6-12 months for many years now and have found the portion size has gone down significantly while the prices have gone way up. It used to be good value for money. No longer.
After seeing the mixed reviews decided to arrange a friend’s birthday celebration dinner and held mediocre expectations for the night. The service was appalling, the food was average and drink service dismal. Perhaps they cater to smaller groups better although judging from other diners chatter and faces I highly doubt it. Plenty of better options close by.
This restaurant must be the worst restaurant in Sydney or it should be at least in the bottom 3.
Having high expectations of this place as it is located in such a lovely location on Cockle Bay Wharf, we were disastrously disappointed by the rudeness of the waiting staff. Our water and soft drinks had to be ordered twice before they eventually arrived. The seafood fettuccini was the driest pasta I’ve ever tasted – my mother had to leave three quarters of it behind as it was so tasteless and hard. The veal was bland and our seafood platter which was on the Specials board did not taste so ‘special’. But I’d have to say, the worst aspect of it all was the attitude we got from the staff.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you want the same views, there are quite a few others that are right along the wharf with just as magnificent views as this restaurant.
Quite possibly the worst restaurant in Sydney. I went there with a friend on a Saturday night. We ordered the Lasagna and a pizza, requesting chicken be added to the pizza. When it arrived it did not have added chicken, but instead had added artichokes. An honest mistake, but the waiter was very rude about it, insisting that he had not heard wrong and that I had told him I wanted artichokes. Eventually he just refused to take it back as he said it would take too long to get us another one.
Once we’d picked all the artichokes off it was a pretty dry bland pizza anyway. The lasagna was small and very salty. Some water would have been nice, to cope with the salty lasagna but the waiter never brought any to our table. We didn’t hang around for dessert, couldn’t be bothered with it. Thank goodness we had the entertainment card! It is in a lovely location though.
It's a good thing that their kitchen seems to be open pretty much all afternoon, because many establishments are yet to learn that it's unreasonable for people to be ready to order lunch by 2.30. I mean, that's just shocking. Outrageous even.
The vegetarian sandwich was pleasantly surprising, packed with nicely marinated capsicum, eggplant, sundried tomatoes and even artichoke hearts, which was a nice touch. The bread though seemed really quite cheap, just some generic lifeless so-called multigrain!
The waitress, though, was surprisingly rude. Her answers were clipped and brusque, she seemed offended that we didn't want dessert, and she was very eager to clear the plates, even while cutlery attached to humans hovered above them mid-use!
They have an enviable position, of course, and blessed with my particular company it's hard to imagine I would have an overly negative time here. Also, there was a pleasing abundance of greenery. Which I'm pretty sure was real.
This is a beautiful spot for a quiet lunch, with lovely views of the harbour. The vegetarian focaccia was tasty, but I expected better quality bread, it was the airy, white, supermarket stuff. Service was poor. The waiter was overly eager for me to finish. Altogether not a bad place to visit, especially if you're planning to go with someone special.
