Bagelhouse is Australia's leading maker of authentic, boiled and baked bagels. What makes a real bagel? You can tell by the shiny, crispy crust and the dense, chewy texture when you bite into one. A quality, authentic bagel should be light on the stomach, yet filling and deeply satisfying to eat.

The Bagelhouse bagelry in Rozelle makes 13 varieties of sweet and savoury bagels to take home. They also have a thriving 'bagelwich' bar that does the regular bagel classics such as smoked salmon with cream cheese and the traditional Reuben, New York style. They even have a range of mini bagels - ideal for lunch nibblies and kids' snacks.

Prices range from $1.70 for plain bagels, $3.50 for toasted bagels with cream cheese through to $7.50 for the Classic Salmon and other tasty bagelwiches.

All round it's a good value place for grabbing a quick brunch on a Saturday morning then taking a few bagels home to feed the family or starving housemates.

The bagels are acceptable for those who haven't tried NY bagels. I was looking for that certain something that a great bagel has but found these to be more bread-y than bagel-y. Service seemed rushed even though there wasn't a queue. For me, it's a been-there, done-that experience.

Ate here this morning for breakfast after a run. Had the bacon and egg bagel and a coffee. Bagels go down well after a run, not too heavy, and they keep you full for a while. They have a good selection of 'bagelwiches' which are a bit more substantial, or just get two bagels with spreads and keep it simple!

Probably the best bagels you can get in Sydney, but the only other bagels I've tried in Sydney were bought at a supermarket and not that impressive.

Firstly, breakfast foods served all day. What a sensational idea. More hospitality businesses should employ this concept. A friend of mine and I visit this unique venue for a fulfilling breakfast or late lunch regularly. The bacon and egg bagel with sesame seeds is simply statuesquely.

The timing and efficiency cannot be faulted, with ideal and friendly service to top it all off. Great prices and a truly urbane feel to the place. Never an impatient wait or lengthy queue. A charming little place tucked away in Rozelle. Will certainly continue visiting.
