I Love the seafood springrolls! even though they're $7 each. I find to be no value at all, however, I seem to come back every time for them! the ambience is always nice when I'm there since it has renovated. The overuse of white does make it feel cold and empty but it does make it feel clean in a way. Lunch is kind of empty but for dinner it is quite full.

The service for me was quite sufficient. I guess because I always go when its empty at lunch and we get all the attention. I think the food on the speciality menu is best, the rest of the menu is alright.

Say hello to the Tamarind crab, this was absolutely delicious! Other dishes which were just as tasty: Quail and the Prawn sugar cane.

It's busy here, so be aware of the hustle and bustle so don't expect to be served on hand and foot.

I don't really understand how everybody else has had a not so good experience here. Bach Dang one of our favourites, and we come here regularly (about once a month), and have never had bad service (and language isn't the issue - the wait staff are perfectly capable of understanding English).

Price is middle of the road for similar restaurants in the area, but the food is most definitely a cut above everybody else. They do classic Vietnamese dishes very well, and everything that we have ordered time and again has been perfect. Highly recommended.

I agree with Mich159. The ginger and shallot scallop was completely filled with ginger and shallot and the sauce was too salty. When tasting the vietnamese pancake, you could tell that about a litre of oil was used to make the dish. The service was terrible with waiters asking us what we would like to order every 30 seconds.Overall I would never recommend going to this restaurant. If you would like to eat in the area just go to the restaurant next door.

We ordered Ginger and Shallot Scallop - there were about 10 scallops about the size of a 5 cent coin the dish was drowned with ginger and spring onion- not worth paying for $15 at all. Also ordered ginger and shallot crab with noodle - again was drowned with ginger and shallot, crab was covered in too much starch - noodle was very firm not soft.

This deserves a zero for service. I've been here twice with 2 ppl and a large group of 15 ppl and their service is shocking. The food is nice, however, there are plenty of restaurants around that can make the same thing.

Rule of thumb, when venturing to Canley Heights/ Vale or Cabramatta for Chinese or Vietnamese food, don't expect too much in the service and you won't be left disappointed. The food here is decent, but if you want professional waiting staff, this ain't the place for you.

Agree with previous reviewers, waiting staff is surly, nobody smiles and they really need to improve big time. We had dinner there last night and I was really impressed with the food however.

Since bf is Vietnamese, we have eaten in a variety of Vietnamese restaurants and Bach Dang's dishes can keep up with the best of them: delicious fresh papaya salad for entree, crispy, yet not greasy seafood spring rolls, a bit let down by being served with disappointing supermarket shelf mayo, superb garlic butter squid, soft and tender, yet again not greasy then followed by a deliciously cooked coral trout, fresh out of the tank, they deep fried the head for us an we had the rest steamed, fantastic, succulent white fish, cooked to perfection!

If they could train their waiting staff to be more professional and turn the restaurant into a more intimate venue, this could be a top class Sydney dining experience.

The waiters do not speak english well and they pass off as rude. The best thing on this menu is the vietnamese pancake which is crispy and delicious, don't ever ask for pho (beef noodle soup) the soup I got looked like it was sitting in the sink for hours and they decided to re-heat it for the next person who asked for pho. Overall, the pancakes are yummy but thats about it.

The refurbished restaurant looks a bit cold and unwelcoming (a bit too much use of the colour white), food is still top notch and great quality, seafood is fresh and often still alive depending what you are ordering. A bit overpriced but well worth it considering but that what's expected of good seafood.
