Fantastic food, professional service and just the warmest feeling throughout my entire meal. The food is up there I'd say with some of the best restaurants as Sydney. I had the degustation apparently from the new menu for autumn. Waiters were very knowledgeable, which is great to see in a hotel restaurant. Great value for money. I'd recommend this place to anyone and I'll definitely go back.
Response from Management:

We were really looking forward going to Bacar since it is only 7 minutes from our house and the previous reviews are very good. The ambience is truly 5 star very nice. Food was also really good the gazpacho is fantastic, duck perfectly cooked, except the dauphine potato had the fat dripping of them. What really disappointed me was the cheese platter, for 24 dollars I expect beter value.
Service was very friendly but not very professional forgetting the cutlery twice is a bit much, wine was the wrong vintage and the wine service was not consistent. For $280 for a table of 2 you have to have everything spot on and thats not the case.
Overall it's a very nice restaurant and a good dining experience and we will be back.

Took my wife to Bacar for our anniversary dinner in September as it is local and brand new. The place is fabulous, as you would expect being in a 5 star hotel. I could not fault the service, the food was superb as well. The serves are quite small, typical of posh restaurants, but I had 3 courses and was surprisingly satisfied by the end of dinner. For the record, I had the Calamari for my starter, Barramundi for main and some chocolate dessert with a French name for dessert.
My wife is an incredibly fussy eater and even she enjoyed her entire meal. She also had the Barramundi for main and French chocolate dessert. I can highly recommend Bacar if you are in western Sydney.

The dining experience at Bacar was overall a pleasant experience. Both a good friend of mine and I were met at the foyer with a pleasant greeting from one of the friendly staff upon arrival. I had the Wagyu beef, which was served in an unusual cold style that was broken up into tiny pieces with a tangy dressing served in a mini cup size served on a plate. It was nice. The service, food and value were excellent.
Response from Management:
Dear gerrard0,
Thank you for your review and pleased to read you had a pleasant experience. The Wagyu Beef Tartar is a local favourite and receives many positive comments from guests. We look forward to welcoming you back to Bacar

Just had the most wonderful meal here! No kidding, every mouthful was magic. What a surprise in the concrete jungle that is Olympic Park. Fantastic wine list, food sublime. We had the scallops and quail, followed by the lamb and duck, plus dessert. Couldn't fault any of it. Really interesting flavours with very good quality produce. Spent 2 wks recently in Paris and am happy to find equal quality dining in my home town of Sydney! (Berowra Waters Inn being the other one I'd recommend).
City prices, but nevertheless a similar quality meal in Paris would cost twice as much. Wait staff friendly, but need more training, sorry, but water and a bread roll should be served immediately! Chef is bound to be snapped up elsewhere, better make the most of him while you can! Kudos. Can't wait to go back.

The presentation of the food is first rate. We went on the Valentine’s Day special. The portions could always be a bit bigger..a single Dutch carrot as part of my starter looked a bit lonely on the plate. The menu did menu carrots in the plural. The Angus steak was perfect not had much better anywhere. Again a few more vegetables wouldn’t have gone a miss. The dessert was a little disappointing. The panacotta seemed to have been devoid of any flavour especially vanilla.
In short the food was pretty much as good as you can get. Service was prompt. The wallet takes a hit hence the low value score. But in all a good meal and a nice location. One big gripe is the expensive parking you get 2 hours complementary when at the restaurant. But you have to know where to park!!
Response from Management:
Dear Shiraz Pizzazz,
Thank you for your comments and dining experience on Valentine’s Day. I have passed this on to our Executive Chef for consideration for other special event days to ensure diners are receiving full value when dining. Yes, Bacar does offer partrons 2 hours of complimentary parking and our staff members should provide you with direction to our carpark and also offer alternative parking in the area. I trust your next visit to Bacar will meet your expectations.

My boyfriend and I went to Bacar the other day to try out their lunch offer. When we got there the service was wonderful and the place is great! We had the Mud Crab Martini and the Serano Salad as the entree. The Mud Crab Martini was really good. For the Serano Salad me and my boyfriend aren't into salad but for those who are you might like it.
The mains we had as the Barramundi and the Lamb Rack. Both of them were excellent. But we both liked the Lamb Rack a bit more. For dessert we had the Chocolate Fondant and the Panacotta. Both really nice. The panacotta is a little bit sweet and would be great for those who like sweet dessert. The Chocolate Fondant is like warm chocolate pudding with icecream on the side.
All of this cost us $105 since we had an extra drink. Definitely recommend this place and will be back. Plus easy parking on the side of the hotel.

As a city dweller I was surprised to find this first-class eatery in the western suburbs of Sydney Olympic Park (also known as Homebush). We were visiting friends who live out that way and they were raving about the newest addition to their limited restaurant supply but we had thought they might have been overdoing it because of lack of competition.
However, I have to say we thought Bacar would be just at home amongst the finest restaurants in Sydney or Melbourne and even its location can't dim the quality of the food and wine on offer. I started with pan seared scallops with zucchini flowers and tomato fondue, the scallops tender and cooked to perfection and the zucchini flower still crunchy unlike those overcooked, soggy versions served in other restaurants.
Hubby opted for the wagyu tartar which he proclaimed to be the perfect blend of tartness and acidity, with the meat melting on his tongue. The locals both had the calamari, which I sampled and found to be excellent, although calamari has never been my favourite dish. For mains I went for the seared john dory with white asparagus and nut butter, which was delicious. The warmth of the nutty butter was the perfect complement to the succulent fish but I think I preferred the pan roasted barra with pancetta and braised lentils across the table.
Hubby had the duck, always a favourite and in this case it was served beautifully pink in the middle, with endive candy providing a delightful textural juxtaposition and braised eshcallots. Dessert was a real highlight, chocolate fondant, again cooked to perfection. Whoever the chef is, he or she knows what they are doing.
The wait staff could have been more attentive as it took a while to get our second bottle of wine ordered, but I think the place had not been open long and they were certainly friendlier than we've had in more upmarket eateries. The wine list is very good and there are display wine cabinets which get you in the mood. The restaurant is part of a new five-star Pullman hotel and you pay hotel prices but the quality of what is coming out of the open kitchen makes any visit worthwhile.
We might even be tempted to make the trek out west again just to see the menu as it grows (our waiter told us the menu was small while the restaurant was in its infancy but that more dishes would be added soon). The furniture and fittings are what you would expect of a five-star hotel, but a little funkier than the standard tans and browns you get in most places, with bright splashes of vivid orange and red and great, comfy chairs with cut-out backs as a design feature.
All in all an excellent experience and a restaurant I have already recommended to others. Could be perfect for people heading out to Acer Arena or the Stadium for an event as a pre-concert dining option.

From the moment you walk into the beautiful Bacar restaurant, with it's unique lighting scheme, luscious furnishings and floor to ceiling wine racks, you know you're in for a wonderful experience. We found the service at Bacar to be exceptional, the food, divine and the price, reasonable!
The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and we allowed to relax and enjoy our evening without being rushed out the door! The food is truly a highlight, from the delicious mud crab martini, to the John Dory, one's taste buds can be assured of a tantalising experience. One word of advice, leave room for the hot chocolate fondant which is definitely an experience not to be missed!
Bacar is memorable not only for the fine food, wine and service but because you are provided a 5-star experience, minus the usual 5-star attitude.

Dear Harper Chimere,

As locals we were excited to find that this new addition to the area is so pleasing in every way. Certainly not a weekly proposition pricewise, but of course you would not expect so in a 5 star hotel. We could not fault the attentive and respectful service.
The menu is small but tantalising, and the portions very satisfying. Can't comment on the wine list as we were enticed there by the clever promotional deal for locals offering a complimentary glass of wine with each course. Well worth a visit for locals and visitors alike - we will be back!
