Very good for a quick lunch. My Nasi Goreng was yummy and quickly delivered, but just a bit underportioned for the price ($9.50). Another downside is that it's extremely packed after 1 pm, this totally destroys the ambience. But as I said, good for a quick lunch.
This is definetely Not Nonya food. We agree with previous writer who commented on the Laksa serve and presentation. To us the laksa appeared to have been heavily laced with belacan and stock cubes. No authencity. The fried fish sauce is not typical Nonya either so Good Luck to the owners but unfortunate for us Nonya food lovers.
I'm really not quite sure what to make of this place. The food is not at all authentic and the servings are pretty poor for the price you pay. I mean $10 for a Nasi Goreng is pretty steep. However, it draws a lunch crowd and its quick, easy and convenient and the ambience is good for a casual lunch. Its definitely can catered to the "aussie" taste bud though. But hey this system seems to work well for the owners so good luck to them...
Food - tried this place after reading the reviews and I must say that the food did look quite good when I was lining up. I ordered the laksa as this seemed like the signature dish however as has been mentioned here it maybe too westernised as such. To give you a description, I ordered a laksa that did not have bean sprouts or tofu (you can order a tofu laksa) but had onions and capsicum in there - YES capsicum - what the?!? The soup was quite bland and the only reason I am giving it a 7 is because my friends who ordered non-laksa food said it was quite good.
Ambience - not too bad under the Grace Hotel for laksa and we were able to get the last table (just). Usually it's difficult to get a table in a laksa place at lunch in the city. Not a true Asian feel though and never seen laksa served in oval bowls.
Service - good, not spectacular but they cleaned up quickly. Value - all about $8-10 which is not too bad these days.

Been here for lunch many times - I've always ordered only the Nasi Goreng which I really like with some of the chilli provided. Workmates have ordered the Chinese Spare Rib which is only available on Wednesdays which always looks and smells delicious. Good food, quick and efficient service, and you can stroll into pj's for a pint to finish off.
Being a Malaysian, I found the food quite mediocre in taste. Unfortunately, it has been tailored to the Australian tastebuds and has lost some of the original tastes. Tried it 3 times with 3 different lunch partners, so I can say I've tried most of their more popular dishes. Then again, it's pretty crowded during lunch (non-Asian) so I guess it works for them! It's part self-service (order at the cashier) and the old guy there is pretty friendly and chatty.
This is a lunch place only! Situated on the ground level of the busy Grace hotel, it makes some of the tastiest simpliest dishes on offer in the area. Every weekday has a special of the day, my favourite being the chilli fish on Tuesdays. Their normal menu has all the traditional favourites like Nasi Lemak, Singapore Noodles, Nasi Goreng, Satay Chicken, Hainaise chicken, and of course Laksa plus many more! With Paddy McGuires just next door, having a beer or wine with your meal is no problem. The food is very consistent and portions are plently for lunch, you won't fall asleep at your desk. Eddie is the host and is happy to tailor most dishes to your requirements. If you haven't been here and you work in the area, try it for lunch, you won't be disappointed.
