I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food but I liked this place. Well priced and tasty - refried beans were great as were the "traditional" nachos which was quite different to the kind you would get in, say, a cafe - but were spicy and delicious. The guy who runs the place is extremely personable, and is eager to make sure you're happy with what you get. Soft drinks are overpriced but beers were as you would expect. Overall, a satisfying experience.
This is by far the worst Mexican I've ever been to. The food was very uninspired - I found the overcooked rice with peas a particular source of disappointment, along with the frozen marinara mix used in my seafood fajita. The food was also presented poorly, looking like it had been thrown onto the plate. Use of more fresh ingredients and better presentation could go a long way here. The only saving grace of this restaurant was its waiters.
This is the best Mexican food to be found in Sydney...it's cute and quirky and yes, the guitar singing owner makes it special. The food is excellent and the seating is cosy...definitely a place I like to visit for a good feed of Mexican...try the Chicken Mole...YUM!
I went with a friend who lives locally and the food is quite honest. The dishes have a little different ingredients than other Mexican food I have had in the past, but overall I found the atmosphere a little crammed.
We really tried to like this place. The reviews have been great, friends recommended the place, and we've been assured it's the best Mexican restaurant in Sydney. Except, it just didn't measure up. Maybe we arrived with too great expectations...or maybe the food just wasn't as good as great Mexican food elsewhere on earth (almost any decent town in the USA for starters).
Quite possibly that saying "there is no such thing as good Mexican food in Sydney" is true. Which is all just too bad - we continue our life-long quest for a decent Mexican restaurant in Sydney. Mind you, we loved the guitar playing and singing!
I am a mexican citizen who has lived away from Mexico for over 5 years. I lived in the US, Canada, Germany, NZ and now Australia. Azteca's is the first mexican restaurant that actually tastes mexican. And I really missed my food. A great selection of good tequilas (not that one usually gets outside of mexico, no wonder people say they don't like tequila). I will definitely be going back for more! And another great thing is one can but a variety of mexican products form them too, which of course I did.
I've honestly never had worse Mexican food. It was not my sort of thing at all. The food we had was filled with broccoli and mushrooms. Never had a Mexican dish whether it be tacos, burritos or enchiladas which had those fillings in it.
I ordered the bean enchiladas but instead of getting beans inside, the thing it had a little itty bitty portion of beans and that mushroom and broccoli inside the tortilla.
Aside from the food, the staff were nice and quite quick. The music wasn't bad either. Don't know about the fashion channel playing on the big screen though.
