An excellent place to get a cheap eat. We went on Monday and it was quite quiet. The seafood there is excellent and fresh. The staff are friendly and they know what they're doing. Would go back.
At last, a good Chinatown-style (Hong Kong) restaurant in Crows Nest. I ordered Szechuan beef and Mongolian lamb. Both dishes were very tasty and ample servings with engouh vegies. The beef was indeed very chilli as the menu says.
The staff are attentive enough, stopping to serve rice as they passed by. The food came out quick enough. The prices are reasonable, not the cheapest or most expensive on the North Shore but for the quality and level of service they are trying to achieve, it is very reasonably priced.
The restaurant was almost full (mainly Chinese) on a sunday night, so you might need to book for weekends. I'm coming back to this place.
My partner and I went tried this restaurant out recently and have since returned again. The food is very good, price very reasonable and the service fantastic. Really lovely, friendly, attentive people. Their prawn gowgees and springs rolls are one of the best we have tasted. We will continue to go back, give it a try and as mentioned previously, don't be deterred by the name.
Don't be deterred by the name. We had a truly "yummy yummy" experience. Everything we ordered, from the peking duck, crab and noodles, san chow pow, tofu house special and red bean pancakes, was awesome. And so reasonably priced. Give this place a go. You won't regret it.
We discovered this place about a month ago and we have been back at least once a week whether it's for dining in, takeaway or home delivery. The food is authentic and reasonably priced. The service is excellent. The only thing that may be lacking is ambience because there aren't enough people in there supporting this place!
If you live in the area, you may have received a flyer and dismissed it because of the (let's face it) silly name. We did. But through word of mouth, we gave it a go and have found ourselves our regular Fri night spot. The food ratings on this site speaks for itself, give it a try!
I think we caught Yummy on a bad night - we were about the only laowai there and our service was very poor. Meanwhile, the other tables (filled with Chinese families and parties) seemed to get their food much faster. We were happy with our salt and pepper ribs, and spinach gowgees; The shechuan pork was aussie-fied, so a bit sweet, although nice and spicy. Our kids were happy with the chicken chow mein (plenty of chicken). We could see the standout dishes are the crab, lobster and live fish. The atmosphere is fairly nice for an informal Chinese place; prices are slightly high but not exceptional. I'll try to convince my wife to go back and give it another try.
Last Sunday was our second visit and if anything, it was even better than the first. Raymond's service was excellent and the food top-class, especially the mud crab with sticky rice. Absolutlely delicious and perfect on a cold winter's day. This is easily the best Chinese restaurant on the North Shore. Forget the fancy names (= big bucks!) - go for quality.
Never order delivery from this place!! It took staff well over an hour to deliver our dinner. Once it arrived the honey prawns were soggy, and so too were the mixed vegetables. The best thing was the prawn chips. Looking at other reviews it may be best to dine in.
Don't be put off by the corny name, this is a great place for take away as well as dining in. The take away is reasonably priced and the food is excellent. Dining in was also great as the restaurant is well presented and the service is attentive. Most importantly, the food is better than any Chinese restaurant in Crows Nest. Finally, authentic Chinese in the 2065 postcode!
